say that Pulis is clueless and talked a load of b******s about the game then surely it is time for PC to blow the final whistle

As a Stokie for 56 years I am ashamed to say I hope we lose the final 4 games especially against Bolton and QPR and perhaps then PC will have had enough

That's the $64,000 question SIS, why does Mr Coates put up with what it all. He is a self confessed Stokie, spent oodles of money - for what, 2 or 3 decent games a season. Must be doing as a tax loss as bookies don't usually throw money away.

As mentioned elsewhere, I will not be posting for much longer, all I seem to be is moan etc about Pulis and I am quite sure that everybody on here are fed up to the back teeth of reading it, just as much as I am writing it.

For me, it isn't hoping they lose, they probably will, without my good wishes.

I wonder what the lowest tally of goals per season has been over the last 20 years of the Prem, or the lowest shots on goal?

Perhaps we might just win something eh?

    Have a good day

Thanks Nick but not easy Just been told that our villa (built illegally without us being protected by our "solicitor" who was in on the whole corrupt scam) can never be legalised and we awit going to Court to plead against being demolished and homeless

Back to Stoke the final insult has to be when Lineker and Co never made one comment about us not even critical

Absolutely right Potts, puts Pulis etc into perspective SIS. Sounds empty words but sincerely, fingers crossed for you and yours. There was a program on the TV last year I think, seems that is not a matter of an isolated case(s)n but a regional scandal.

    Not that is any consolation.

    All the best

Time to go, Tony. Thanks for all you've done for us, I'll be eternally grateful for what we've achieved under your stewardship and games like the Bolton semi-final and they Europa games will stay with me forever. However, I've had enough- it's time for a fresh start.

Thanks Potts and Nick for your support and yes the illegal building and corruption is widespread and involves solicitors and Mayors as well as builders and land owners but our philosophy is that there is alwys someone else worse off than yourselves and we just have to hope that we can persuade the Judge that we were innocent victims of a national scandal

But again back to our beloved Stoke The more I think about Pulis's MOTD interview the more I am convinced that he is deranged To say that he thinks the world of Walters because he missed that sitter shows that Pu;is is schizo On the one hand he nakedly headbutts the Beatties of the world and victimises those who question his style of play ( Kitson) or are just too skillful ( Tunny ) and yet is sychophantic about others like Mama etc

Sorry to hear about your situation SIS, hope things sort themselves out!

It seems that there is just a growing tide of acceptance, as if alot of fans both pro and anti TP are neither angry, upset etc... just feel the end is near. As much as I have alot of dislikes in relation to TP, I agree with "Welsh" that there has been some phenominal moments in his tenure and I dont think many would argue that without him we would proabaly never have the had the opportunity to experience the premier league, europe & Wembley. Like I said on the other thread, time to go and go as gracefully as possible!

I'm TRYING and so far FAILING to find out the lowest number of goals scored during a full Premier League season.. I think? Derby still hold the record for fewest pts though.

WHEN I find out I will post it here.

As poor a season as this one seems for many Stokies, the records set by Derby in 2007-8 are almost unbeatable Potts.
    Stats include:
Lowest pts as you said - 11
    Lowest goals total - 20
    Worst goal difference -69

We've had a great season in comparison!!!

Found some stats about least goals/ goal diff etc, none of them are us (yet, at least :p)

    • Fewest goals scored in a season: 20, Derby County (2007–08)
    • Worst goal difference in a season: −69, Derby County (2007–08)
    • Fewest goals scored at home in a season: 10, Manchester City (2006–07)
    • Fewest goals scored away in a season: 8, joint record:
      [*]Middlesbrough (1995–96)
      [*]Southampton (1998–99)
      [*]Sheffield United (2006–07)
      [*]Derby County (2007–08)

    (So far this season we've scored 32 [21 H, 11 A] and conceded 48 [16 H, 32 A] GD -16)

Thanks for the stats guys, didn't realise we are so prolific - Pulis IN <yikes>

Jose, that is a great post and forget my past rhetoric, I agree with you.

On reflection, possibly the only reason that Pulis is still on board is that the majority of fans at the Brit (and certainly on Oatcake) have not protested, like Wolves for example.

Cannot understand why not, perhaps the extra 15K attendance/supporters are just glory hunters over the last 5 years, who knows?

Didn't expect much different from yesterdays game, I''d said a few times Newcastle was our hardest game out of these last few.
Sloppy defending for the first goal, but I think pretty much any team would have conceded the other 2. Good to see Jerome come on, and Pennant could have made a difference if he played (SSN said he was ill). Newcastle were the better team, but we weren't outplayed as badly as I've heard some saying, I thought we had some decent chances, could have made a difference if we managed to actually hit the target.

I don't think he should go yet. Things have gone a bit stale, and it may be time for a change, but with Europe this season, I think we all expected the our league drop over the season, so I don't think it would be right to give him the shove at the end of this season, and I don't agree with managers being sacked midway through a season (unless the situation is really dire) as it mostly seems to do more harm than good.

Fair enough Pistol pretty much agree with we never expected to get anything yesterday..
What narked me is when I read T.P.s comments?

I will be forever thankful to Mr Pulis the Premier League, Cup Final then Europe we're fantastic but now?
I'm not sure what Oatcakes i.e. Cris meant when he said a while back.

I think Mr Coates is expecting a top 10 finish this season or else? I very much doubt we will do it now. I sincerely hope that T.P. gets the player's well and truly fired up for the ARSENAL game next weekend. I never mind losing games IF we play well. BUT losing to Arsenal erm NO, NO, NO.

A week's rest a reet rollocking from T.P. and who knows. IF and they are doing very well at the minute QPR drop one more pt we're maths safe. Point being we SHOULD have been safe a while back IMO, but what the heck do I know.

The summer will be interesting, if only to see what views/comments Mr Coates has on our season.. as for T.P. only Peter Coates can decide his fate.

I haven't read/ heard any of his interviews after the match, what did he say?

I'm not too hopeful for a top 10 now, but it's still possible, we are only 2 pts off 10th, and if we're at the top of our game we could get at least 7pts (Beat Arsenal & Bolton, draw with Everton and lose to QPR is my prediction)

EDIT- Just as I posted this WBA scored, putting them 10th, 3 points ahead of us :(

In footballing terms its been an awful year, regardless of the final points we achieve. In relation to TP/End of Year etc we have always tailed off towards the end of the term, costing the club money and pride!

My main concern is the fundemental issue around goals (Or lack off) and our GD.

    2008-2009: Goals scored @ 38 & -17GD
    2009-1010: Goals scored @ 34 & -14GD
    2010-2011: Goals scored @ 46 & -2GD
    2011-2012: Goals scored @ 35 & -19GD ****** Based on averages so far**********

Terrible viewing when we have spent 40+ million on strikers and have made little or no progress since our 1st term! That is thing that should worry all Stoke Fans, no change, no improvment, no ideas!

Pulis - bit of a nob?
I know it will be just him trying to keep his team motivated but reading his comments he seems way off the mark:

Stoke manager Tony Pulis: "We had a lot of chances today. Jon Walters, who I think the world of, could have come out of the game scoring a hat-trick.

"But the difference in both boxes was they hit the target and we never. From being very much in the game we were 2-0 behind after two very poor goals.

"At the start of the second half we thought if we could get that goal it would have been game on. But the third goal was very poor again and that gave them the momentum to go on.

"You've got to give our players credit - they kept going and kept going. I don't think it was that bad a performance."

He says all three goals were poor goals (and i realise he means from Stokes point of view) but talk of a hat-trick and how his team deserve alot of credit... we had 11 shots on target, they had 2. We had 59% possession and alongside the goals (there were three of them by the way, it wasn't exactly a nail-biting finish) we had another one ruled out for offside and a handful of great opportunities we didn't convert.

I think he must be putting on a brave face for his team because if our manager came out saying it wasn't a bad performance and all the opposition goals were poor then i'd be worried he couldn't identify the problems in the team!

    ..........................................................................................................

    Taken from the Newcastle board..

Sorry but he didn't even give Newcastle ANY credit for playing well, and they did. I posted a comment below this and it does smack of "bad loser sydrome"
We played OK for ten minutes but after that we did nothing of note, apart from that shot by Crouch, which was blocked.

Why not just say it how it is T.P.? And true enough as the OP has said on the Newcastle board. Pulis NEVER gives the opposition credit AFTER the event.
But BEFORE the game he's quoted as saying " They are a very good side bla, bla" I don't think he's a K**B just tactically clueless.

POOR defence for TWO of the goals? Pulis YOU put Wilko on the left and Collins on the right WHY? Trying to cover his own cock ups perhaps I don't know Pistol.

Pulis is now a total, unmitigated embarrassment to 'this football club'

Look's like it just not my opinion
