Ok guys I know were all feeling a little sore right now after what happened. It would of taken one correct referee's decision and right now we would be promoted. But this feeling of a tv curse is getting a little tedious now yes we lost and we were the better team as with the game against Reading and a couple of other matches. But remember we were woeful against Leeds and got points we didn't deserve so with all this talk about this television curse we may as well resign ourselves to relegation the minute we are promoted due to SKY's and ESPN coverages not to mention you will be able to see every game on the internet any week of the season. Put the curse to bed let West Ham beat Leicester and let anybody not going next Saturday see the saints promoted on TV followed by the pitch invasion.
As there is on BBC1. As I said on a different thread yesterday, I suspect West Ham's result tomorrow will decide if the two of them go for us and West Ham on the last day, or Cardiff and Boro. (Little point showing us and WH, if 2nd place has already been decided).
I don't think it is the camera's as there are always cameras at the games just not always showing it live. I wonder if it is more to do with the varying kick off times. Players will have a routine from what time they get up, eat, warm up. Everything really in the build up to a match. Perhaps its a change to this routine that effects them. Not sure why, maybe putting everything back leaves more time for the pressure to build where the players just want to get on with it or in the case of a 12.45 kick off they don't have enough time to relax before the game. I don't know, but I know the varying times throw me on match days. 12.45 not enough time to have enough beer, late kick offs inevitably mean I am trollied! Its the same for every team but others may do things pre match, different to us.
Looked on the SKy website a minute ago and nothing on there. They are showing Shef Utd @ 17.20 but nothing on the Saturday lunchtime.
Whether you believe it to be a myth or not it does seem coincidental that we have lost only 3 times in the last 18 games...and all three of those games were live on the telebox. I can't remember all the games that have been on the box this season, but for one reason or another it seems to have generally resulted in poor performances/results or both. It's a strange one, but one that we will likely have to overcome next Saturday!
Is also the fact that games are televised for a certain reason - usually because the teams playing are close rivals for league positions, is a derby game, both big teams etc. They're hardly going to televise our games against Barnsley. So in most TV games, the odds are fairly high that we will lose. In many of them, I agree, we've performed badly, including when we've won (eg. Leeds). If we go up, I would fully expect the curse to continue next season, in televised games against Manchester United and Arsenal.
