To all the people who doubted him, he has now done what we wanted when appointed. Yes Portsmouth losing 10 points helped us, oh wait it helped Barnsley and Forest not us His comments after the game was he's satisfied but no joy. He also states he don't want to see us in this position again, and that he hopes he will turn us into a far better team. Still buzzing, didn't want to tempt fate by posting this but so far this season every game we have won the first game we go on to do the double. Be fantastic if that continues next sat.
I doubted him and I hold my hands up......we made it....Just. Yes it was with the help of Portsmouth....but in all fairness IMO they should have been deducted more than 10 points. Well done to Del and the lads, he was brought in to do a job.....and by the skin of our teeth, JOB DONE. Am I convinced regarding Del? Answer, Not yet. Pre season, choice of players coming in and the first 10 games of the new season may well change my mind. Anyway that's next season and I believe he deserves a pat on the back for keeping us in the championship.....Well done.
Great keeping us up,however the real test comes building us ready for next season. He defiantly deserves his chance next season,I wish him all the best. I have been a doubter regards our manager, but huge respect in keeping us up.
Next year, we will be a FOOTBALLING team with players comfortable on the ball - something which will make us a much better prospect right from the off...
Yep you were one of the doubters OneFor, but fair play to you for admitting it, i am a Del believer, and now he's done the hard bit, i think he will go on to make us a stronger and better club.
When he took over we were bottom - adrift at that He has picked sides/formations to suit the players at his disposal We are safe and all credit to DM
The state Portsmouth are in (YET AGAIN!!) they should have been automatically relegated without the FA pussyfooting around with a 10 point deduction. Respect for their fans but the mismanagement of the club should never be allowed to happen again in English football. Anyway lets not detract from the fact that not only are we safe, we climbed 2 positions as well! I always wanted Del to be our manager as soon as his name emerged and he is a top bloke. He now needs to be completely and utterly ruthless and get rid of any players that he doesn't believe are up to the job. I'm not asking for promotion or even the playoffs, but steady and noticable progress is needed next season. Up the City !
Yes, fair play to the "doubters" for holding their hands up. But these posts are tinged with "yea but" and 'maybe if this' if you really do respect what he has done for us this season, give the guy the same respect next season when its not all Roses and form drops when it inevitably will at some point next year. Cos, just to remind you Ronaldo and Messi aren't dreaming of summer moves to Ashton gate this year.. He has some hard work to do and I am absolutely certain he is the man to do it..It wont happen overnight though guys.
All that matters is Del kept us up and now he has got to get on with the next phase,I hope the Sexpot and co back him to the full,he's proved his point, the fans have proved theirs, now it's up to the board to get their bleeding fingers out..
The board have always said they will back the manager when he wants to bring in a player, lets hope they arent just saying that to keep us happy and actually invest in some decent signings this year
To be fair, we have loads of out of contract players.. Some, Like Jamo on very good money for this level. I'd think we'll be pretty active with a fair few incomings and outgoings. Should be an interesting summer! Hopefully start Ribeiro, Edwards, Bryan etc against Burnley just to give them more first team match time.
I was worried about Del's lack of experience but he has done the business and that's all we wanted. A massive thank you to him and his new backroom team for keeping us up! He now has most of a season in the league behind him and I'm sure he knows a lot more about the strengths and gaps in the squad. He has always impressed me in his interviews and I think he seems a determined and focused individual. I'm still a bit worried about the low goal-scoring record we have had as a team but hope that he has a vision as to how we can play a more attacking game once he has chance to bring in his own players. I always thought we would have to wait until this time next year before we could really judge him and to be fair it should probably be 2 years. I like his approach and trust him to work hard for the club and the rest we will just have to wait and see!
When DMC's name was first brought up i laughed, and said to myself who the hell is this guy... no thanks we can do much better, but after reading into him i realized who he is and what he is and that's a winner, and after a few days and a bit more knowledge about him he was the only guy i wanted, and i haven't doubted him since, hes done a tremendous job and i have no doubt next year we will be competing at the right end of the table ALWAYS BELIEVE
