Football has a habit of forgiving footballers' minor peccadilloes. Sometimes the odd club will overlook manslaughter (murder actually , Mr Hughes), but I have never heard of a club employing a convicted rapist before.
Surely, then, Ched Evans will never play professional football again. And rightly so.

I hope he doesn't, but lets be honest, he'll have a kick around every few days when he's inside, and as soon as he gets out there will be a list of clubs who can't wait to sign him. Think Marlon King, Lee Hughes etc, didn't take them long to find a new club. No matter how scummy he is, he's scored 29 goals this season and I'm sure plenty of clubs will think he's worth taking a punt on.

Surely the footballing community will not offer a way back for a convicted rapist? I don't think I have heard of such a thing before in this country.
I am still shocked that any club would employ Lee Hughes after his evil crime. Would any club employ the ex-Plymouth keeper who killed those two poor kids? I sincerely hope not.
Believe me (not through anything I have done) that this scumbag is really going to suffer inside. He won't be sent to a soft jail and he wont get to be in general population for about 3 months. That is when his problem starts. He will be with the nonces and doodles for the first three months for allocation and then sprung to the yards. As a sex offender he will be marked and he better get used to the taste of urine because every dinner he has, someone will spray it.
That would be a small crumb of justice, Typical.
Although, there does seem to be a generous helping of hypocrisy when it comes to lags dealing out punishments. I can't help but smile when I think of it.
It is ironic how the british justice system allows a back door form of capital punishment. You stick Ian Huntley in with other lags and he will be watching his back every day, every step behind him could be the last sound he hears, every meal he eats someone has dropped a turd in it. Don't get me wrong I love to hear that and for me it a good reason not to bring back the death penalty. We allow our criminals to hand out punishment which society cannot bring to do itself.
Obviously one cannot condone what he has done; but there is always the chance that he has been wrongly convicted. The Law Society tells us that the prisons are full of such people. As l say, if indeed he is guilty then he deserves to go to jail and face the next (number of years) behind bars!
I agree that no self-respecting football club should subsequently employ him.

Now to an extent that could well be true, but that is no excuse to do what he has done, it's horrible, and life ruining what he has done, but how the Port Vale guy got off no idea..

Let me just start of by saying I don't condone rape but I have sympathy for Ched. Firstly, the whole situation is ridiculous, how can 1 of the 2 convicted persons get done but not the other? The fact that people are trying to record it is the only thing which makes it seem like it is actually the rape situation.
To be honest I think the whole law of people having sex under the influence of alcohol needs to be revisited. The girl said herself that she didn't know/remember how her clothes ended up on the floor, so how the hell is she going to remember if she said yes or no to sex in the first place? I know some of you are just going to say thats beside the point bla bla bla, but I just think that Ched's life could now well be ruined and he may well have been drunk himself.
But at the end of the day if it is the correct decision then he does get what he deserves but we'll never know that shall we.

Are you questioning the legitamacy of a jury hearing? They heard all the evidence and were directed by the trial judge to make a finding that was beyond all reasonable doubt. If you think there is still doubt then your questioning the legal system. Consider the evidence u didn't hear before The stuff you did or presume. Oh and not being capable of saying No or yes is not the green light to rape someone.
I must admit, a bit like Carrian, i feel a tad sorry for Evans. To be honest, we've all done things when we've been drunk - sure, they might not have reached the magnitude of what he did, but he has done something, under the influence of alcohol which will change his life dramatically for the negative forever. TBH in the little i've seen of him and interviewed, he doesnt come over as a 'bad egg'. He will be in a very lonely place right now, scared, and wondering what the future will hold - all over one drunken night ! - doesnt seem right to me somehow - but then again, that doesnt mean i'm condoning what he did. Dunno, i feel sad for him.
There is a lot more to this case than a drunken young girl in a hotel with two footballers. As the details come out, it becomes clear what a disgusting act took place that night. The fact is that Ched Evans lied to the Police about his whereabouts, and slipped out of a fire exit after raping a young girl.
He does not deserve sympathy. He deserves to have his cods removed.

Ched Evans may have had a drink but there is not a statement that says he was drunk. The girl was clearly drunk and according to some of the statements had fallen over drunk t the club where he and his mate were drinking. However all of that aside, why did he go to his mates hotel room taking his brother and "Associate" when he knew his mate had taken a girl there. Is that the behaviour of a responsible person - no. Yes he is learning a hard lesson and will learn a hard lesson over the next two and a half or three years. Is his mate lucky? probably but we haven't heard all of the evidence that the jury sat through, only the media's more "saucy" highlights.
I'm with Typical and Ponders on this one, I did some slightly risky things when I had a few when younger but I was always taught that drunken girls got taken home safely. They frequently respected me more for that when they sobered up!

Exactly Scratch...!! Had the fella shown a little more respect for this young woman as 99% of decent blokes would have, he wouldn't be sat in a cell knowing his life and career have just gone up in smoke. One suspects that as a handsome and no doubt rich young man, he more than likely had no issue when it came to attracting the advances of the fairer sex. So why jeopardise everything for a drunken fumble...? Idiot...!!
Whilst I'm repulsed at the mere thought of my club offering a lifeline to a convicted rapist, imo you can't refuse the fella's right to continue with his chosen career once he has served his time.
If he had worked as a builder, bin man or whatever else, he'd be allowed to get on with earning his corn once released. It should be no different as a footballer, providing of course he can find an employer who will afford him the opportunity to do so.
In all honesty, it'll be easier for him to chuck his career in (assuming he still has one). Can you imagine the absolute dogs abuse (rightly so, Iâll be one of many dishing out the verbals) from 15/20 thousand people chanting all sorts⦠Not sure Iâd have the plums to tough that out, whatever the riches involvedâ¦!!
