Romney is a mormon aswell...
Yeah those guys are batshit insane. I was quite surprised when I was in New York last year that there are adverts on TV, billboards, etc. encouraging people to understand and respect Mormonism.
Romney is a mormon aswell...
Sorry to butt in pepys, but aren't we supposed to me talking about a Southampton FC 5 year plan..?
Yeah it all starts with Obama being re-elected. It all ties in, trust me.
Well I'll trust you to steer it back then, Joe.
Think they go hand in hand, but Nicola does want footballing success first...his aim being the Champions League (that was probably a bit tongue in cheek as we were in League 1 at the time). He knows that, managed correctly, footballing success means financial success. Managed correctly is the important part of that sentence.
Aside from points 3 and 4 I'm with you entirely (point 3 and 4 are good in theory but we need to be flexible). Points 5, 6 and 7 are all very, very important, in particular point 5.

I believe Cortese will stick to a fairly rigid wage structure.
Not a very nice man.
I believe Cortese will stick to a fairly rigid wage structure. I pulled those numbers out of the air, but those would seem sensible so that we wouldn't be overloaded with hugely expensive players if we were relegated. Second season syndrome hits a lot of promoted teams hard and we'd want a backup plan if it happened to us.
Re: Jack Welch. He earned the nickname Neutron Jack, after the military practice of killing citizens whilst leaving the infrastructure standing.
Jack's talent was hostile take-overs and asset stripping. Often destroying perfectly functional companies and making plenty of innocent hard-working individuals redundant in the process. Another common tactic of Jack and his ilk was greenmailing - buying up lots of stock to force the management of the company to buy stock to prevent a takeover. This in turn caused the share value to rise, leaving the vulture capitalists free to dump the inflated stock and walk away with a profit. If the management didn't bite, he buy the company, strip its assets (thus creating the impression of success due to an inflated bottom line), dump the stock and leave the waste behind. Basically, the guy is a bully who has done nothing to aid society in any way, shape or form.
I think I'd prefer to see a strategy where we base out business on sound investment and prudence, making the best of what we have and building ourselves up through hard-work and talent, not pursuing get-success-quick schemes that ultimately leave a hollow shell behind them. When you listen to Nigel in interviews he often talks about trying to get the players to be the best that they can be, which is the very antithesis of Neutron Jack.

Before you make a plan you have to be clear about what the future may hold.
If you dont believe me think about Peter's and Waterman's book "In Search of Excellence" in which they identified really successful businesses except that a couple of years later they had all lost markets and were struggling. The business world had changed and they had not kept up.
What will football at the top look like in England in a few years time for I do not believe it will look anything like it does now.
Too many clubs are in real finacial trouble and major changes are afoot. Small crowds will not support super leagure teams which is where we want to be.
If I was Cortese I would want to establish a Super Club to mop up all of the football interest in the South Coast.
I would ensure that Portsmouth get taken over by a nobody who ensures they are a Div 2 team and use them as a feeder club and grounding for oue academy players.
I would want to build a more prestigous stadium in a better location with a 75,000 capacity and I would seriously consider rebranding to get rid of the Pompey Saints nonsense and unite both cities behind a mega club to fiulfil the fans ambitions.
The area is rich and densley populated and if the SouthEast was a country it woiuld be about the twentieth richest country in the world. I would want to see all those clubs from the North of England become also rans and for the Solent Super Stars football team or whatever it might be called become the best supported English club with an international following second to none.
After I had done all of that I would then start to think about world domination.
.
Scenario 1:
-Obama re-elected
-Everything is fine, Saints progress goes as I described previously
And sends us the next "Clint Dempsey" (Premiership player of the year IMO - OK he hasn't scored the volume of goals of Van Perise but look what he brings to a team)
Very very tongue in cheek!!
