So with this 20 prem seasons talk coming around, me and my mates got talking about who would be in our respective teams 11 (prem days only), it was an interesting chat and would like to see some other saints responses as well. So if you could put who would be in your 11 and any special mentions that made it close.

To start, without to much thought in the pub, mine was:

    Niemi

    Dodd Claus Killer Benali

    Marsden
    Anders Fernandes
    Le Tiss

    Beattie Pahars

with special mentions to: Bridge & Oakley who lost out in tough decisions.

Personally don't think Fernandes can be in there above Oakley - id put Marsden on the left and Oakley in CM

I totally agree. Fernandes would hide in tough games. As much as Frannie was a Saints hero I would have Bridge at left back.

I see Phil McNulty thinks Rooney scored the best goal ever. To be honest it was like Rory Delap's but not as good.

Phil McNulty is a tw*t. He has such a blinkered vision of English football that any teams outside of the top few in the Premiership simply don't exist to him. If it was Rooney's goal against nine of Matty's he would still say that Rooney's was the best!!

That's the sort of reaction I'd expect from someone who has seen it for the first time. It only happened about 8 or so years ago. Unlike Rooney, Rory didn't shank it, but caught it clean as a whistle. It was head over heels [geddit..?] the best thing he did in his time at Saints. Is it only my computer or has anyone noticed on the Beeb website, where they are showing the goals, that just at the point of Rooney's contact with the ball, the frame jumps, as if to miss out the fact that it wasn't a perfect contact..?

Btw, aren't people forgetting to include a certain Mr Eklund in their line-ups..? How the hell you can leave him out is beyond me. Only LeTiss would guarantee his place in midfield.

Yes he served us well, but both he and Svensson were much better players. Richards transfered for £8.1million and Svensson would have been double figures had he not been injured.

I don't like picking a Saints team from the Prem years only because apart from a few years under WGS, we were pretty ****e and so the team almost picks itself... + MLT. There are no real major debates and it sort of tells me how mediocre we were during the prem years. Yes, Killer was great and pahars was a legend; Beattie had a good two seasons, but there was so much garbage and so many hod carriers early on, I think most people will pick approx 8 or 9 of the same players.

I much prefer when you have to pick two or three players out of Keegan, Moran, Davies, Le Tissier, Shearer, Beattie, Pahars, Channon, Boyer, Osgood, et al. That at least is a challenge.

Agree FLT but which three out of that lot. I would go with Le God, Keegan and Shearer but if we were just talking about when with Saints would swap Shearer for Moran or Channon.
