On the contrary Joe, considering the respective budgets, the Sky coverage is generally pretty poor. Sure the BBC have some mugs on as pundits, but to invite the unfailingly morose Graeme Souness back regularly is beyond comprehension.
 
What gets up my nose is people at the BBC who use geordie speak to say Nu Ka sill for Newcastle when it should be New Cars all. Is it political correctness again like when they say Bejing instead of Peking and Mumbai instead of Bombay.

If they are going to be consistent and want to use regional dialects when naming clubs then we should be Sampton and Reading should be Red inn. Our neighbours to the East should be Poorsmuff and West Ham should be Wesdam. Norwich should be Narridge and ... well I am sure others can fill in the rest.

He's from Alsace, so it's probably a name of Alsatian origin, which is a Germanic dialect owing to the fact that the region borders Germany (and changed hands a multitude of times over the centuries), so you're probably right on the original pronunciation. It's fully Francophone now though, so what the actual, current pronunciation might be, I haven't the foggiest.

It is Francophone although the majority of people there are bi-lingual in French and German. I should imagine most of them are proficient in English too.

sky sports news Is a great format, I enjoy it. Sky is a bit more light hearted and humorous than the BBC. And they don't have Savage, drivel merchant extroadinare. wouldn't pay actual sky sports though.

I went to Strasbourg on a course a few years ago with a colleague and when we walked into a cafe the woman behind the counter immediately started talking to us in German. I suppose we didn't look French so we must have been German! She did speak English once she realised we were'nt German though.

Lovely city btw, try the tarte flambe if you go there, it's a must.
 
'Drogbaa' is actually more accurate than 'Drogber'. But you do sound like a tit so I go with the latter.

I think, speaking in English, it's ok to use English pronunciations. No-one here puts exactly the right accent on when pronouncing any players' names. But having said that, most of the commentators get it wrong even by those loose standards.

I found the menus in Strasbourg interesting in that they seemed to be written in French, German and then in some sort of hybrid English.

I agree it is a lovely city and I found their trams a great way to get around although I walkd into the City from my hotel along the river.

I have to Say I liked Nancy better and I mean the city for those of you with one tracked minds.
