I agree with this sentiment. The thing about 'strategy' is you do what it takes to beat your opponent. If that means you play like stoke then so be it, otherwise you end up like Wigan at the moment, beautiful football but in the relegation zone I still think CFC fans have been getting screwed by their team though, and I base my views on that.
Barcelona are 1/4 to beat Chelsea next week. What's amazing is those odds are probably correct. I know Chelsea haven't been in the best of form, but the likes of Celtic would be bigger odds to beat the team at the bottom of the SPL - it does indicate a surprisingly large gap in quality between two supposedly top clubs - in the semis of a European cup...
i think it was messi who coined the phrase but what the **** does he know about football? chelsea had to play negatively and hope for luck, they got it in spades tonight, it is impossible for them to go toe to toe with barca, they will need divine intervention to get through this tie and any football man knows that 2/11 barca to go through tells you the story, 20 minutes into the second leg that will be 1/100 its pointless talking football with people who tell thereselves honestly that the premier league is the best league in the world, its absurd and just plain ignorant come back on and talk to me after the game next week
You said Chelsea are the real 'yids', in a post where every other point was a criticism. Sounded like a slight to me.
For me chelsea are favourites to win the CL this season, despite the odds It will be like liverpool in 2005
In Oirland where they hate Chelsea. Of course, Chelsea could lose 2-1, 3-2, etc and still go through. Barcelona need two goals minimum to progress.
Chelsea were 3.5-1 to win, at home, tonight. Easiest 35 quid ever made, not often the bookies are so benevolent.
Classic c**t comment: 6th best team in England beats best team in Spain...but...the c**ts know their stuff.
were they ****. Setting aside the fact Chelsea parked the bus on an extremely narrow pitch Barca were very poor tonight, nothing to do with an admirable performance from Chelsea. Despite playing garbage Barca still retained 70%ish possession, they still rattled the woodwork twice, they had another two glorious chances to score. Barcelona were lacking a clinical finish to their moves. If Barca improve slightly on that performance, and my guess is they will improve massively on the anti-football bustingly large Nou Camp pitch, I can only see one outcome. Arsenal were in a similar bullish mood after their first leg win last year, didnt end well.
The only truth to come out from chelseas performance tonight and UTDs in the final last time is that the English teams have learnt **** ALL with regards to playing barca. These tactics didnt work the first time so why do exactly the same thing?
english ****s need to man the **** up and accept they are lightyears behind spain in every aspect of football they are on a par with germany in terms of leagues, nowhere close to them in national team accept it and move on, nothing will be changing anytime soon
Ok, maybe I should have said it's something perpetuated by the press. No idea if Messi coined it but it's still bollocks. From my memory it goes back to a couple of years ago when Inter went to the camp nou and had the audacity to not bend over and be bummed by Barca after having hammered them 3-1 at home. Why should they? There is a load more to football than satisfying the sky sports generation and Chelsea have poked them ****s right in the eye. More than happy to come back next week.
