My main prediction is Jose Mourinho spends more time talking about the result of this one than Real's against Bayern last night. After that, 3-2 Barca - Chelsea score an early goal, Barca knock in three, but Chelsea get a late consolation to give them hope. Then get battered in the second leg.
Well football being football I can see a shock result coming. It's all set up for it, with Chelsea having had a poor season by their standards but coming good at the end. Nobody expects a Chelsea win so I will go for them to reach the final over two legs. I can see it now, we get fourth Chelsea fifth but qualify for CL at our expense as winners.
i just know the stupid commentators are going to refer to Sunday's match at every given opportunity!! apart from that i hope Barca rip them..but then the other side of me asks this question Barca rip the team that ripped us 5-1 only 3 days prior....so how will we ever suceed in the CL? ......im sorry if i sound spoilt with my expectations but im 35 now and i think im due some joy and i know there are fans that are much older than me...and we all want to see glory in our lifetimes...therefore i ask the above stated question.
A comment after the Bayern v Real match was that an away goal puts the team on the back foot in the replay so I'm not sure whether that's good or bad for whosoever. Chelsea have had remarkable luck for a lot of the season not just recent matches and it will take a brave man to forecast a score tonight. Barcelona it has been said aren't as strong this year and Chelsea as underdogs have nothing to lose. I think that their luck might hold tonight.
Barca looked dodgy last season up until the semi's then they seem to step up a gear,i think Chelsea will find that out
I hope it isn't 4-1 because what would that make the replay besides a stroll in the park for Barca? It would be interesting though if Chelsea and real make the final with the Mourinho influence on both teams.
i want to be safe as possible from the possibilty that we finish 4th and chelsea win the CL..that means we miss out Thor..so lets put it to bed tonight and then we can bust a gut in the last 4 games knowing full well that it is indeed in our own hands.
Dona, you made an excellent point about Barca ripping the team which ripped us 5-1 so what are our chances in the CL. What also are our chances with us drawing against Sunderland and Everton shredding them and Norwich beating us and getting shredded by City of even making the CL? I like to be positive but I also like to be realistic. It is in our own hands but.........
your spot on..however having come through that shambles you have just described..we still find ourselves in the hunt for 4th and quite possiby still 3rd...but only if we take care of our own matters..however even if we take care of our own matters..Chelsea can ruin our party..so lets hope Barca help us out by knocking that scenario on the head, of us missing out due to them winning the CL...we cant be totally pessimistic and say we dont want CL footy because we wont win it...you see our problem as Spurs fans is this..and im glad it is this, but we wear this saying on our sleeves...'Audere Est Facere'...and always will. quote 3 in my sig
We also destroyed Newcastle, who battered Man Utd. Individual results aren't really relevant and if we do make the CL, then I'd expect our squad to change a bit before next season, anyway.
Chelsea seem to be weaker in the Premier League and more easily beatable or at least before Di Matteo took over they were and I still see specks of weakness in their play. If teams can pick up on this especially Barca tonight then we should be ok.
but the Toon are no Barca..we all know this..i can bet my bottom dollar that Barca wont get any weaker in the next few years..maybe stronger..and that is going to be the pond we are in..it helps that we have consistency..however we dont..truth is we all know that we should be beating United for the last few years now..but we just cant..however we cant say that against Barca..not unless like you suggest..we have more additions in our squad.
Who can say that about Barca though, Dona? We don't need to beat them to compete in that competition.
