I see the shortlist of players has been reduced to 80. Any one know if any City players are in it? I don't it but you never know. Surely Benno and Pilks (still has'nt played for Ireland) should be in with a shout

Should do but won't have a prayer. I reckon we'll see as many NCFC players in the 80 man squad as in the next England squad! Maybe one but probably none.

Apparently Beckham and J Cole have been approached so, if they were selected, they would take up two of the over 23 positions.

The last thing we need is our players getting injured a fortnight before the new season.An expensive waste of time IMO.
Bit of a selfish way of looking at it though isn't it Cruyffy? I'd imagine it would do any player's confidence the world of good to be part of it all and - obviously apart from the small chance of an injury - would only be a good thing in my opinion.
They way its shaping up it looks like they are just going to enter a celebrity team, the likes of Beckham, Giggs etc Don't think they are taking it seriously

Personally I think Holt playing would be a good thing for us. he always takes five or six games to get up to speed, so why not have him play them before the season starts so he's ready to go when the real football starts. That being said I've also heard Bellamy, Steven Fletcher and Chris Brunt are being considered the chances of Holt getting in are slim
Yes,probably.But nothing strokes my natural cumudgeonliness more than ten billion quid spent on the advancement of myriad multinationals.There was an item on the news just now about sailing,the boat emblazoned with "J.P.Morgan Asset Management" A huge free advertisement courtesy of the BBC.The Olympic ethos was about amateurs.Now it's about money grubbing.It has cost £170 for every man woman and child in Britain.I wonder if -offered a cheque for £680 the average hard pressed family would say "No guv,lets have some running and jumping".
