Is it just me who has been disappointed by some of the home gates recently. Surely a team who has gone over a year at home without defeat and who plays good passing football should be getting gates of 7000 plus on the run-in towards promotion. Come on you occasional Town fans - get off your sofas for the last two home games and cheer your side on to victory - I drive a 180 mile round trip every home game and have only missed one game all season (and I am not the only long-distance fan) . If we can do it so can you! Floreat Salopia!
The gates have been slipping slightly for the last few seasons. There are stats on the Shrews website, I will dig them out when I'm not using my phone to type!! Success will bring more fans, the amount who went to Wembley show how many we could get!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Shrewsburys gates meant to be bucking the trend somewhat & increasing when other Midlands clubs are decreasing (due to the current financial predicament we all find ourselves in)? Saying that, I do agree with the original point being made. Yes, we're up there & have a brilliant home record & the club deserve a few more on the gate. I'm certain we'll get those average gate figures up in the last three.
did the gates not increase when town moved to oteley rd from 2.5/3k to 5.5k plus. and there was nearly 7k at the abandoned vale game. i am sure the board are fairly happy with the gates, i suspect gates may not improve much in L1

I'm sure I read a chart somewhere showing how our attendances were pretty much staying on an even keel, whereas all over Midlands clubs were being hit harder by the reccession. Maybe it was last season I read it then.. Hmmmmm? Anyways, totally agree with the points being raised. Lets hope for a big crowd tonight! Saaaaaalop Saaaaaalop!!
should pugh pugh barney magrew cuthbert dibble gtrubb be there in case with their ni na ni na. come on you shrews i would love to be up there again. keep floreating salopia
You'd hope for more than our average but I think we've done OK considering the economic position and compared to most other clubs. It's looking like tonight should be comfortably our biggest crowd of the season and, if results go our way, the last game against Dagenham could see an even bigger one and, all being well, a big celebration. Good stats work Matster. It's interesting that the one off crowds at Gay Meadow were as high or higher than this season's (so far), but the average was much lower. Clearly, these one off games masked generally lower attendances (as old Gay Meadow fans will remember). The fact that our average crowd this season is close to the highest suggests to me that maybe the levels of visiting fans have dropped, which you might expect in hard times. The home support level has been pretty consistent throughout the season (and for a few seasons) at 5,000+. It's decent but let's hope those stats improve in League 1 next season. Whether they will is another matter - we're unlikely to have such a fantastic home record!
sadly matster i have had to cancel my visit for the daggers game unless something turns up, but i shall be there in spirit.
Cracking crowd tonight & I agree with Shrewd, and also expect the Daggers game to be a sell-out. Come on Salop, this is our year!
After PV attendance of 7678 - average attendance 5603 After D&R I think that is gonna jump up slightly
If we get the sort of crowd that's now expected, the average should end up around 5,775 - about 100 below last season. I should think that would compare favourably to most clubs.
