i think ive done my bit at least once since yesterday's match.

that is to say well done Chelsea.

However thats done now...and the thing that i notice is that most Goon fans and all Chelsea fans are trying to defend the indefensible.

should try to be honest.

those that are reluctant to admit that goal 2 maybe was not a goal...then say that it did not effect the result...all i can say is none of you must have kicked a ball in anger in your lives.

you cant tell me that instead of it being 2-0 to your team it could and should have been 1-1......have you ever played football? at any level worthy of competition?


if you have then you will know that the impetus,drive,hope and confidence is lost almost totally when you go down to 2-0.......and that to an incompetent ref...compared to when you have just equalised to pull the game back to 1-1...and now have the upper hand mentally.

My article is not about the outcome or result or who deserved what..it is about those who try to say that such decisions dont effect the outcome of a match.


dont tell me the fuk up by the referee did not influence the outcome of the game.

The problem is (as Drogs said elsewhere) who's to say we would have scored Bale's goal if their second didn't stand. It is a fair point, but shows none of us know what would have happened if the ref made the right decision.

At 2-1, we had to push forward for another goal, and that left us exposed against a strong side, on a large and tiring field. That's the point, and that's why the ref's blunder cost us.

At 1-1, we would have played a far more cagey game, and would have hit Chelsea only on the counter, rather than push our back line so far forward, chasing a goal.

The ref's blunder made all the difference in the world, as any one who has played football will tell you.
 
@ HD..if nobody knows nothing then nobody should be so sure that it would be a negative outcome for spurs...im not going to look like im bitter...as im not..i dont think our team deserves to get to the final as a whole...however dont tell me that matches are not turned on these decisions....yet yesterday the bias bile was suggesting that matches are not turned on such decisions...point is they are.

and that is my point HIAG...anyone who has played football will know the world of diffrence in a 2-0 and a 1-1 and how that shifts impetus.
 
I'm fed up of all this **** now, it's utterly pointless. The "ghost goal" didn't lose us the game but of course it was a factor as every goal is. The first goal going to Chelsea against the run of play was also a big factor and our players falling apart in the final 15 minutes is certainly worth mentioning as is a couple of superb finishes from Chelsea players. The problem is that Atkinson had an absolute 'mare as he admits and it's not the first time we've had this happen to us. Conspiracy theories aside it's like a bad joke that we've had 3 goal line decisions go against us in high profile games over recent years and all 3 were wrong.
 
yeah im fed up about it too..im not discussing the match as such..i could have this debate at any time of the year..that a decision in a match does effect the outcome..we can close this thread and ill ask it in 6 months as the sentiment will still stand.

my discussion is not about 'ifs' and 'buts'..its to discuss what some folk say in that a wrong decision does not effect a game and its outcome....that is wrong if you ask me..and will always be wrong..ive been in that scenario myself..as will have others who have played ball.

and the fact that the ref has admitted it..yet people think it wouldnt effect the outcome of a game..just highlights my point.

not bothered no more about the match..its this pathetic theory that a balls up does not cost.

We make the same point. Just saying we can't be sure it would have gone to 1-1. Still seems ****ing unfair though.

exactly,but like i said on another thread..

People condemn the likes of Ens for being pedantic but my lord,i have not seen so much pedantry with regards to details of what constitutes a foul and wether a referee decision influences the outcome of a match..due to it effecting confidence,momentum etc etc...just because 2 of the sky 4 were the beneficiaries yesterday.
 
We had to open up to chase a goal that shouldn't have been given.
Redknapp even changed our formation to do so.

They were handed a massive advantage, both in being given a goal and it forcing our hand tactically.
To say that they deserved it because they went on to win from a false position just doesn't make any sense.

Man Utd may have been the better team against Villa yesterday.
Being 1-0 up from a penalty in the first ten minutes, rather than still at 0-0 and with a man in the book, makes a rather large impact on the game.
 
I would say that the goal evidently would have affected your team, but also you showed enough character to get it back to 2-1, and looked good for it afterwards as well.

You had the first half over us for at least 75% of it, and should have scored at least two in that period, espescially one from Adebayor to get on the end of VDV's ball...

I don't think that you watched the game, Lidls.
Chelsea rarely troubled the defence until the ghost goal and Mata was virtually non-existent in the first half.
 
The difference between us and the likes of Chelsea or Man USA is that when you kick them in the nuts they come back stronger. We folded like a house of cards yesterday and not for the first time this season (far from it.) Until we learn to deal with adversity as a team we will continue to underachieve. End of.
 
They have more money to spend and get kicked less though, Chirpy.
They also kick the officials back.

It's about bottle PNP. We seemed to be over this at the start of the season, whether Harry's England situation is the reason or not, we are right back to our familiar fragile selves. Right now we are making the Goons look courageous.
 
I'd say that it's about fight, Chirpy.
When your leader's waving the white flag and sneaking out, then it's hard to stay focused on the battle.

Really PNP? What about Drogba's misskick? Or Mata's 1v1 with Cudicini? We had just as many chances as you, game was evenly matched with Drogba's strike literally the difference.

Great post dona. Totally agree.

YV, you might be sick of hearing it mate, but do you think if the scoreline had been different and this entire incident had not occured, we would have fallen apart in the last 15 mins? - i certainly don't think so. Incidents like this change too much within the game. not only are the players emotions all over the place, discipline is lost, concentration goes out the window and frustration kicks in. - that's just on the pitch. But what about harry's half time team talk? we go in to the break behind when we should be winning, and then within 3 minutes of restarting the second half, harry's motivational talk is out of the window - as well as any substitution plans that might have been lined up. so much changes.
