Got Fury by a late KO maybe in round 10. Fury has had his problems depression and weight as well as the over hand right. But has got himself back into shape and hopefully corrected some flaws in his game. Rogan is getting on a bit now, still very tough and durable but cuts up and has his eyes closed up before, and if he takes sustain punishment this can happen again.
Should be interesting. I think Fury might struggle early on with the pressure Rogan will put on him but he should come through it, he should be beating Rogan if he has any ambitions of stepping up which he says he has.
Fury will jab his head off. Rogans best ever nights work was Matt Skelton (including Harrison imo). In that fight Skelton hit Fury at will when he stepped to the side. Fury won't come forward in straight lines. Fury is limited, but he ain't stupid. He'll box his ears off imo and stop him in the middle rounds.
Class performance from Fury. He did everything right last night. As usual, A fighter came out and tried to take Furys head off, but instead of getting into a brawl he danced backwards and took everything on the gloves for two rounds. In the 3rd he found Rogan in his range and let rip with some vicious punches that floored Rogie Again, didnt get hurried in the fourth and let Rogie tire on his gloves as he danced backwards. In the 5th Fury began to hit easily and finished the fight with a cracking body shot..... He did all of this left handed and kept his gloves up the whole time...... Tried to get the crowd chanting Rogies name at the end and was humble to the home town fighter.... Boxed at his lowest weight and looks to be taking things seriously.... Im not saying that beating Rogan proves anything, but it is well worht having a look at the boxrec heavyweight rankings and looking how far down the list you have to go before you find a 23 year old heavyweight with Furys record..... It has been debatable whether he would ever make the most of his physical potential, but this fight indicates he may well do....... I wasnt surprised when Price wanted Fury after the Pajkic fight, where Fury looked terrible and not all there.......However, the more Fury shows in performances like this, the harder a fight between Price, The K's, or povetkin will be to predict..... Built up for the lad, hes been through hell recently.
I agree with a lot of what's been said... However: IMHO, at 17 years Rogan's Jnr and with all his physical advantages, he ought to have had more than enough to dispose of Rogan without reverting to the southpaw stance. I worry that he couldn't eliminate his tendancy to get caught with the overhand right whilst in orthodox stance. So, they decided to go with the southpaw option. It's one thing doing what he did against a clearly shot to pieces Martin Rogan, but I can see him coming well and truly unstuck against a better calibre opponent. Maybe I'm wrong (certainly wouldn't be the first time). I actually genuinely hope I will be proved wrong, because I'm desperate for a genuine heavyweight contender to come from our shores, who can physically and technically match the Ukranian robots and the other faceless eastern block no marks. We'll see...
In fairness to Fury, he looked good against an awkward opponent - he just needs to beat Price and then he can move on to World honours... ...it's between him and and Price to be next Heavyweight Champion of the World. <pissed>
Awkward... Really...? Four or five yeas ago Martin Rogan would've been an awkward opponent. In 2012 he's nothing more than a moving punchbag...!!
He was in really good shape for a man of 40 years - he threw some good punches in the first couple of rounds, Fury blocked them all though. I think that Fury really needs to beat David Price before anybody will consider him our best contender.
In a game of opinions, beating Sexton doesn't mean a whole lot if we are talking about being a serious contender at a serious level. It is just what I think. I believe Price can do it, I genuinely like him and genuinely think he is devastating puncher but his record doesn't read as good as Furys does right now.
