Wrong. He's not a better player, he' a completely different type of player. There is no logical comparison between the two, as players, only as to their value to their respective clubs. As has been said, Barca and Fabregas had you over a barrel, and so you had to sell.
Note that those figures are in Euros Enigma, so it's actually even less than I thought. £25m with a few bonuses tagged on., assuming that the story is correct. The idea of Fabregas having his wages tied to payments to Arsenal sounds bizarre, though. I can't recall a similar deal and the suggested wages at each club sound far, far too low to me. £50k pw at Barca? Less than £65k pw at Arsenal? Considering the respective wage bills at each club and how important a player he was to you, that sounds like bollocks to me. He'd be on the same wages as Bendtner.
I think Spurs would do well to milk the sale of Gareth Bale, if they wanted to cash in. To City Bale may be worth 35-40m but to Spurs and their cause Bale would be worth even more. Funny thing how it all works.
There are numerous articles on the story, some have different figures, other suggest that it is win bonuses that fabregas has given up, therefore the exact price could rise depending on how successful braca are, but the basics of the story are broadly correct in my opinion, cesc did not receive a huge pay rise to join barca. And arsenal did not receive the fee that he was worth, the point still remains, just because we as fans, or even board members perceive a player to be worth a certain amount of money, does not mean that you will get that amount of money.
Bale is under contract. He would only ever be sold to City at a price Levy would be happy with. I suspect that that price would be more than they would be willing to pay. Given his age, and phenomenal potential, I doubt that it would be less than £50mil
am not wumming..or did you mean the article i posted? i did say its a dodgy source...however its speculation or ideas involving our club so i decided to post it.
We don't want to sell, so there will be no milking. Nor do I believe that Bale will want to leave, and certainly not to £ity. We'll milk the sale of Modric, who I believe can be replaced by a proper goal-scoring CM for half what Chelsea will pay us for him. Bale, however, cannot be replaced and should not be sold. @ Dona Mara - no, I wasn't referring to your thread, but to the article that your thread has highlighted
Bale is the last player I would want to see leave, he is irreplaceable imo. Modric however has been average for most of this season and if we could get £40m I would be tempted to take it and sign and top forward with the money. Ideally Modric would stay and we also sign a top forward and a few other players especially at the back.
The thing is, in the case of Mancini, his solution to not winning as many away games would be to sign another defensive midfielder, and probably another centre back or two. And, it also has to be said, that's not a million miles away from Mourinho's outlook either, should be be brought in.
i would rather spurs keep bale than sell him to city. He is a quality player and you really can't afford to let go of him as no suitable replacement will be willing to come IF you dont make top four (think you will though). I obviously don't like spurs but have more respect for them than city.
