The past couple of times I've gone to the home games, the stewards have been waiting half way up the stairs to check tickets. What the hell is that all about? It makes absolutely no sense at all i mean how do they think i got into the ground in the first place. I would Maybe see some relevance if they're guiding you to your seat but they don't they just say okay, Thankyou. It's a massive pain in the arse when carrying drinks without lids and food to get your ticket out of the bottom of your pocket for the bloke just to nod his head.

Anyone have any idea what it's about?

Schneiderlin is the goal king is a steward there, I'll tell him to come on here when he's back!

It's bloody annoying though I must say, I wasn't allowed up the stairs into the next block for the Pompey game because my ticket wasn't for that block?

Happened for a while, it is irritating. At Millwall away the same guy asked us every time we took to the stairs from the concourse. That was three times.

The whole showing your ticket going up the stairs hoo ha is because there have been a few little incidents of overcrowding. Some fans are not able to buy tickets close to their mates and end up getting one for somewhere else and then meeting up with them in the concourse before going to the same seat and trying to fit in.

Hope this helps answer your question.

This is true, I ended up back row of 42 last year. What a bunch of plebs. Their mates arrived, some stood on seats, some stood infront, they really crowded it and started spreading out the drink and cigarettes. Pillocks.

Then again they can still get around it by going up the right block, going down pitchside and up the stairs from there

    (woops I haven't just revealed this to a steward ;) )
