....now I'm saying it (tin hat on)

Martin O'neill - is he all that?

Don't get me wrong - he's an upgrade on Mr Bruce but is that good enough? He had his 'new manager bounce' but what have we seen since?

From his time at Villa we can remember various failings

No squad maximisation. The dismal showing at Everton was, arguably, down to picking unfit players. Both Cattermole and Bardsley had to go off and both were doubtful before the game. That's what the squad's for Martin.

No experimentation. The season has largely finished. What better time to have a look at the fringe players? But no, it's the same old names. Cattermole injured? - let's have a look at Meyler. Mig's done fine, what's this bloke Craig Gardner like? We can't score a goal to save our lives - can Ji help us? Who knows?!!

No tactical flexibility. He wants to play on the fast counter-attack but sometimes this doesn't work. What's plan B?

Maybe the close season will let him mould the squad to his own liking. For now I'm a bit underwhelmed.

I see where you are coming from....But no doubt the response will be...wait till next season.

TBH I think MON is a fantastic manager. You only have to chart Villa's fall from grace to see how good he is not to mention what he did in Scotland.
That said we won't be able to judge the Sunderland MON till we see what happens over the summer and the first few months of next season.
What's happening at Sunderland now is psychological. We can't go down, we can't win a cup and we can't get Europe. The players have started to switch off and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
Back on tour in my RAF days we were always told the most dangerous times on active service are the first few weeks and the last few. The first few because your green and the last few because the end is in sight. You start to become complacent, even in a war zone.
If the brain can do this when it's life and death we can hardly be surprised if it happens in Football.

Cyprus - you're right of course but isn't that a good reason to try new players and tactics? The fringe players have a good reason to show what they can do and the manager can have a look at what else might work.

I've never understood the whole 'MoN is god' hype, like he could do no wrong. Now the honeymoon period is over it's interesting to see his performances.

You're currently 17th on the form table, but I don't think that's an indication of MoN's long-term ability. It's just a natural slump every team has from time to time. Meanwhile, I don't think the honeymoon period at the start was an indication of his ability either. It's actually probably somewhere in-between.

I think he's a good manager, but not a miracle worker. He has the ability to get the quality out of the players he has so they aren't underachieving, but that's about it.

And your not interested in Sunderland? Do you bless every board with your bilge then? I doubt it personally.
Bloody WUM Muppet.

Take some time out mate, enjoy your success without trying to rub it in our faces every bloody thread.

I must have been spiked....

Was sure i read a thread by Chapped arse stating "i don't come on your board much" yet here he is, alive and kicking and casting opinions on the club...

I should be more careful and not leave my drink un-attended.

Give the guy some time and let him build his own squad first before you judge him. Newcastle fans didn't want Pardew yet look what he has done for us.

to be fair lads it seems chappaz' points are quite reasonable, no need to jump down his throat because he supports Newcastle

We don't.

We do it because he licks windows & is a grommet.

By all means feel free to go suck his cock & pick up the leftovers from his chimpanzee orgies.

You have my blessing on that. <ok>

Poolie, if you spent as much time supporting your club and your supporters, instead of arse kissing craas, which you have been doing with huge regularity more recently, it would be gratefully acknowledged.

Chopsy Wopsy is the epitome of the ****e, wumming bot bandit. He deserves all the dog ****e thrown his way.

He's only being reasonable Cest mate, despite being a Newcastle fan, most of you will agree with Chappaz points, if you feel he's being patronising surely you can just ignore?

Whatever chaps is he seems very good at it, if he is a wum then he certainly seems to get people wound up.

As for MON, may be a season or two to early to start doubting him, IMO.

Few people have problems with O'Neill. I think he has indeed done Wonders with the squad.

He is having to battle with injuries and the cup run has taken it's toll. We are missing our top 2 centre backs. It's no coincidence that our poor run has happened at this time.

Our squad does have weakeneds and needs work.

Nowt to do with valid points or him supporting the skunks, but all to do with an earlier thread from this character about him no longer being bothered about Sunderland because the skunks are so far ahead of us...
Then we see him commenting on every bloody article regarding SAFC which shoots his own arguments in flames.

He wouldn't know what reasonable was if it kicked him in the fanny bud.
