For their first it was the terrible cross-field from Fox when everyone had pushed up that was the biggest culprit. I thought we made plenty of chances and on another day it might have been very different, but we just lacked the sense of urgency. Earlier in the season we were making the same shapes but in a one-touch, give and go fashion which was much more dynamic. Maybe the lads just looked a bit tired/ragged? The quality of the final ball wasn't quite there.
Finally, I don't know why some have a problem with Reading fans. I was in the Chapel, but they sang pretty well, and there was plenty of them. Why the grief?

Have nothing against Reading: they have been on a fantastic run after a poor start and their fans are not morons unlike some. We have to now make sure that this blow so late in season (together with Blackpool game) doesn't derail us.

There's still an outside chance of the title. If we win our next 2, and so do Reading, we go into the last game needing to beat Coventry, and praying Birmingham can do a number on Reading.

Auto will do me...nerves setting in although I know we should still do it. Wouldn't put it past West Ham to get the wins they need when the chips are down. Time to show that we have the right stuff when under pressure. It would be hard to repeat this season next year as others who've just failed to get promoted have found out. The team are in for a debrief of the match this morning, though as the Sky commentator said Saints didn't do a lot wrong and outplayed Reading in everything except what mattered. A big win over P'boro and all will be right in our world (or a 1.0 to be honest).

funny that the Posh game was the one game that Reading just did not know how to handle - chances at both ends, could have been 4-4, but they ran at us and found so many holes - only defeat in 16. Funny old game!

We've had poor results against teams such as Bristol City...sometimes teams play to their strengths and just know how to handle a better side. P'boro will not be able to beat us at possession and pretty stuff, so we must make sure we are more clinical than we were last night. If results could always be predicted we might as well just assign points at the beginning of the season (mind you that would probably promote Leicester and West Ham:)). As our manager says, analyze, draw a line and move on.

I can't recollect a match in recent memory where we dominated the game so much, had so many chances and then ended up losing 3-1. If any result would have been fair, it would have been a draw as Reading were good yet I think we had ample opportunity to win this match. I feel totally gutted.

Looking ahead at the remaining fixtures, I think we will lose to Peterborough, get a draw at Middlesborough and then beat Coventry. I think the confidence will start to slip. Reading seem fated to win this and I can see them doing the Championship by a hefty point margin. As to West Ham they will win their outstanding matches which I think will leave us 2 points short of an automatic place. It is now the Hammer's to lose.

But West Ham are totally wobbling - haven't won at home in 7! On the KUMB & FAH boards they've all but given up hope of autos now ... their big hope was to overtake the Royals on GD with a Saints win last night ...

Agree but they can't keep dropping points at home and the away matches are within their capabilities.

Funny you should say that it was 4-4 the last time we went to London Road!

It is my carefully considered opinion that Berkshire people in general are jolly good eggs.

The very lovely Mrs Godders<smooch> has been all sweetness and light this morning. Even the cat is back. She knows which side her bread is buttered. The dog keeps appearing in the garden but everytime I open the backdoor to let her in she takes one look at me a bolts for it. I'm not sure I will ever gain her trust again.

Mrs Godders is obviously a Saint:emoticon-0131-angel. They do say that dogs are good judges of character.

The first time I read that I thought both sentences referred to the very lovely Mrs G, then I worked it out! You might want to be a bit careful about your syntax, Fran, or people will think you have designs on Godders!

What's up Ian? You are a ray of sunshine at the moment! <laugh>. It is obvious that we are still favourites to go up, as WHU are hardly in brilliant form, and just look at the points/goal difference. Theirs to lose? But then you were absolutely certain that Pompey were not going down a few days ago. I wonder what has caused your belief in improbabilities?

No it isn't. They have to beat Brighton today to be 3 points behind us.
