Which scenario would you pick?

1. Saints finish 2nd and Pompey are relegated.
2. Saints finish top but Pompey, against all odds, stay up.

I would chose the 2nd scenario.

 

I don't really care about them at this stage.

For me, target 1 = Promotion. Once over that line, target 2 = the title.

 

I would prefer Pompey to stay up - they would then be closer to us and I would be devastated if it was a long time before we played each other again.

 

I want Saints to win the league. I really couldn't care less if Pompey go down or stay up.

 

I would take pompey relegation ahead of saints promotion

Are you worried that they need a new owner by early June or that they might get one? Not knowing anything about running a football club may be an advantage at Pompey.

 

Interesting to read about the talks, though less so, that they're not in an advanced stage. It takes me back to our own plight, when I remember starting to get really jittery at one point, because the club looked as though they might go out of business, and which was something I just couldn't reason out. We were a club with major assets and, by comparison to some, very little debt. In fact, we were be allowed to go to the wall for very little apparent reason. In hindsight, once the well meaning tyre kickers [Pinnacle] were out of the way, Cortese and Liebherr took something like 24 hours or less to do the deal. By comparison, Pompey have very little in assets that they can call their own.

 

Apparently Cortese wasn't pleased that Pinnacle had been given exclusivity, but just carried on and was ready when it fell through. Still gives me a chill if either NC/ML gave up or the Pinnacle deal went through. Willing to bet we wouldn't be worried about a match between 1st and 2nd in the Championship and concerned we might only get auto into the PL and not the title.

 

Ex Coventry though, I was guessing Coventry but he may be Reading...

 

If you were to ask me before the pompey game i'd say two now though it's 1 let the skates drop deeper and deeper.

 

I want Saints to go up. Pompey being relegated would be a nice brucie bonus but, frankly, I am more concerned about Saints doing well.
