I dont understand the argument. If it was Whittingham who could only last an hour id play him. We were very poor against Watford and for the 55 minutes Mcphail was on he also was poor. We were very lucky to be up at half time. The midfield created next to nothing and we badly needed a change. Whittingham is getting heavily marked. We need someone else in the middle who can speed up our passing and get some tackles in and be a goalscroring threat. For me Joe Ralls for the final 4 games. I dont think we need to steady things. We are slow enough anyway. We dont have pace but we can certainly up the tempo. To me we need to be going for it more. We are sitting back and letting the opposition come at us. If we do get in the play offs and play as likely West Ham we will have to be in their faces and will have to be far better than our recent showings. To me we needed more pace(much More). Our game has just become too slow. On a side note even though I want to reach the play offs , missing out may be the best thing long term. An extra month to get the players with pace we badly need. I think Gunnarson and Whitts are the 2 of the best central midfielders in the division. 2 fast wide men and we will do some damage next season.
Agreed Hilts. But if we are going for it now then there is no reason not to throw the youngster Harris into the fray. If he is as quick as we are told and has some tricks up his sleeve then why not. He will be an unknown quantity to the other teams and could spring a few surprises - nothing ventured nothing gained. And , yes, why not give Ralls his chance as well. His legs will not be tired as are some of our experienced guys. Malky was known for giving youngsters their chance at Watford so come on MM give us something to get excited about in the last few games.
now is not the time to chuck in an 18 year old a see how he does, you do that when you're home and dry. gunnarsson is a quality midfielder, combative, good passer and decent defensively...whitts we all know his qualities, there is a slot in midfield for a new player next season, if we use the same formation that is.....although i like lawrence i think it will be cowie left mid and lawrence right mid for the remainder of the season, problem is they are all too similar, as has been pointed out before..... the starting 11 is probably in the top 4 of the division, the subs arent....its a squad game and you have to legislate for losing players like whitts etc, imagine if he got injured in training and missed the rest of the season, we wouldnt go up simple as that he's got no replacement...
We have no pace in our starting 11, less with Conway out. Our play pattern is too predictable, we have seen that in the last 4 home games. Lawrence is so pedestrian he should be given a zimmer frame and bus pass and the others in midfield are not much quicker. Why not give Harris a go? Ralls came in from nowhere earlier in the season and impressed, couldn't Harris do the same? With no Conway our options are extremely limited. Harris could be the X Factor and show that Cardiff's Got Talent.
so you think he can dance around the defenders blue?...........lets hope he gives us some different strokes and doesnt hide on the sidelines like the unknown stuntman......we dont need fall guys
Maybe I jumped in on the defense of Macca because I want to have that style of player in our midfield, but I guess if we need to add more speed then Macca is probably the first one to go.
Forgetting for the moment the references to the televisual dross that seem to inspire such awe (), I don't think it would be so bad a thing to give young Harris a bash out wide to shake it up. Four reasons I suppose. 1) Our existing set up has been sussed and is being countered. 2) We're all crying out for pace in the side. Well here it is. 3) A completely unknown quantity whose play wont have been "disected" by our opponents. 4) We need to win games and not rely on other teams around us to drop points as well. I said I don't think it's a bad idea to try him - I also don't think Malky will.
I presume Malky doesnt think Harris is ready. He hasnt been afraid of picking Ralls and Mason so I trust his judgement. Its still annoying seeing Adam Matthews in a Celtic shirt. He could and should have been doing the job on the right side of midfield.
Blame it on Jones Hilts , Dave's #1 bad quality was always banking to much on a first impression & he was wrong with Matthews . Good luck !
