I just can't see Lambert paying out that sort of money. He loves to bring in a few players during the Summer, and as I can't believe we will spend much more than 10m, he would take up a huge chunk of that, leaving very little else to play with. I mean, how would we get Snodgrass as well?;)

i disagree. i think he will spend whatever he needs to in the summer. if he really, really wants jay rod, he'll pay what he has to. of course there is a limit but its the wages which are more important than the fee - the wages need to be right for the club, not the player. he spent about £10m last summer; spent £5m in january - a bad time to buy players generally - so i can see a further £15m being at his disposal should he require it

I hope you're right and we do spend that sort of money.

but if it came down to a choice between Rhodes & Rodrigues at a similar price I'd go for Rhodes

We will need to spend between 15-20 mil to get the players we require I reckon.

why? natural goal scorer for sure but from what i've seen rodriguez is much the better, more talented footballer. surely not another 'look at their scoring record' suggestion?

Look at the lad Taylor from Posh - highly rated, has scored goals in the Championship this year, is out of contract in the summer so won't cost a fortune and is from one of our feeder clubs ..... <whistle>

Definitely a rough diamond that one who comes with a fair bit of baggage, but also a huge amount of ability and potential and I truly believe if somebody can keep him out of trouble and get the best out of him then the sky is the limit for that lad <ok>

what about strikers from the clubs going down? Wages permitting, could be a good option.
    Stephen Fletcher
    Victor Moses (winger i guess)

I can't see us getting anyone from the relegated clubs. Their decent players such as Fletcher/Moses/Jarvis will be snapped up by others with deeper pockets and more generous wage structures. I can see PL continuing with the successful model of picking up young, hungry talent from below. I could well be wrong and we may try to land either J-Rod or Rhodes in the summer but probably PL will get someone from left field or even bring in someone from overseas - he has not used his German contacts yet so who knows?

Regardless it will be fun being linked to all comers and at least we will be Premier League next season.
