There used to be nothing for second place, but then it was pointed out that the play-off winner got a trophy. I would be surprised if they didn't bring in a Championship runner-up trophy at the same time as the one in League 1.
I went and emailed the Football League. Never thought to look for a picture of Norwich City celebrating.
If you e-mailed the league, I hope you pretended to be a Reading fan...don't want anyone to think we lack confidence.
Nope, and I was aware of that, so I just asked if they could end a little pub debate. All very friendly and anonymous.
You might be interested to know that I received a reply from the Football League this morning. Here's the text: Thank you for your email. To confirm only the Championship winners receive a trophy. Thank you for contacting The Football League. Kind Regards Customer Services Administrator The Football League Limited Email - Interesting. So what were the Norwich City players holding aloft. Did they buy a trophy for themselves..? Is the League One Runners Up trophy genuine..? Is the football league in error..? I've left their enquiry address, should anyone want to press them on this. Although I didn't ask, I believe there is a genuine Play-Off trophy.
Not so sure about that. A quick BBC search has loads of photos and video evidence. Here's some more - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-13349980, I'm sure this year's runners up will get it.
