And besides, i think Steve has massively improved his defensive work rate this season. The speed with which he can backtrack is useful

But De Ridder has no end product. At least Frazer can cross!

This my point though, id rather have de Ridder producing "bad products" in and around the box than Guly lose the ball at the halfway line because he gets closed down so well. Chaplows crossing isnt as good as SDRs, meaning Frazer would have to overlap, leaving us vulnerable on the counter, which is where they got us last time. <cheers>

Wasn't Guly playing right midfield last time and De Ridder came on up the top? I wonder if Sharp will play again the full 90.

Yeah. Hence why Guly shouldnt start. I like the guy, i understand why he plays, just specifically for Reading he shouldnt start. de Ridder or Punch for me

Sorry to put a dampener on such a great day but i was absolutely disgusted with a group of our own fans outside the pub near Thornton Heath station. Chants of 'Hes **** hes black send the ***** back' was absolutely disgraceful and genuinely think these mindless idiots should be banned for life.

Anyone else notice at the final whistle instead of (like the other 10 players on the pitch) coming over the the saints fan's almost straight away stropped off to the bench where he kicked a waterbottle before Nige told him to pull his fingers out his ass and come over to the fans? His attitude given the scenario was piss poor.

I hear that he wasn't happy with fans booing him when he came on. But that was on twitter and just a rumour.

Yeah, so i've just read on the main thread. I must admit i didn't hear anyone around me boo-ing him? I thought it was a sulk because Sharp in the last minute shot instead of passing to him?

I think Guly is being treated badly. No one else is getting the stick he does. He's a good player who has off days like everyone else, and it would be a shame to lose him. This is beginning to verge on bullying.

In total agreement with you Fran; I do find him frustrating at times; but his goals and assists entitles him to far more respect than he is getting.

I have to disagree with this. Guly has not been 'quality all the way'. He was good at the start when he was scoring but has gone off the boil. I did not boo him when he came on today. I would like to puncheon back in with a chance as this is not doing the club or the team any good him being sat in the reserves, not starting or being on the bench in any games.

He got booed during the Pompey game. Not so much today. Not great from him at the full time whistle but to anybody booing him....stop being pathetic. Without his goals and assists we're not top of the league. Or even in this league at all. Booing your own isn't the Southampton way. Don't do it!

To be completly honest im not a "guly hater" but in a local derby strolling around un-interested when it means so much to all the fan's is ****ing disgraceful and frankly understandable why fan's started singing for steve de ridder. Chaplow had a good game today and i expect him to maintain his place into friday and hopefully give Nige no reason to change it for the rest of the season. <ok>

But your opinion on Guly was rendered irrelevant when you said Harding would do a better job in midfield.

Fully expect Guly to be gone in the summer.

Same, he'll probably go back to Brazil or Italy. But if we sign a prem quality RM and Striker in the summer, I cant see much room for him in the side anyway, except maybe as cover
