If Guly wanted to walk away from the club at the end of the season, I wouldn't blame him at all. He just does not deserve this level of stick. The unfortunate thing though, is that if he does walk away, then the boo boys will have won.

If fans cheered when I got subbed off I'd be pissed off too! Not cheered in a standing ovation way, but in a "thank god you're off" way... if I were him, I'd look at the way fans were treating me, look at the goal chart, look at the assist chart, and say "right then, you guys can **** off, I'm off to somewhere that will appreciate me".

Quite right, I just don't get it. Everyone has bad games sometimes, doesn't help anyone to boo them.

He's a very, very good player, IMO. Great shame he's around 30, because I bet he'll do well in the PL, and we'll wish he was around for many more seasons. Supporters [?] who boo him haven't a clue.

We will regret it. Those of us who appreciate Guly will regret it. But the boo boys wont. They'll be jubilant. And will then just move onto their next target. It's no surprise that the anti-Guly brigade only sprung up once Puncheon had been (temporarily) shipped out.

The only difference is that Puncheon did (temporarily) lose form... his performances for the clubs on loan showed it was a loss of form and not ability. Guly's been quality the whole way but is still getting boos. Confusing.

If I read st_brendy's post correctly, he's referring to racist chants.

I didn't want to bring it up... I've enough faith to assume it's a coincidence that both Puncheon and Guly are black.

I wasn't actually, although that is not to say that racism doesn't come into it (only the boo boys can answer that). It was simply an observation that they always need someone to boo.

The thing that gets me is Guly has about the same goals/assists as Lallana and nobody would ever boo Adam, Guly has had some very average games but the guy has played 40 games this year hes not gunna be top notch in all of them

It wouldn't surprise me with some of the racist stuff I hear on the way to games from our own fans.

Guly is a good player, however at the moment he is on a poor run of form and he looks unhappy and short of confidence

Is he homesick? Is the booing getting to him? Has he got any personal problems?

Something is wrong with Guly imo, and the fans on his back aren't exactly helping him and if he wants to go, I wouldn't blame him tbh. In fact, I would love to send the people to boo him to work in another country where they don't speak the language and see how hard it is then

I'm pretty sure it's not racism - just plain old stupidity. Plus it seems to me that the bigger gates we get, the more negative people get sucked in to the stadium, ie the sort of fools who wanted Adkins sacked after saturday.

Guly has real talent, despite seeming to drift out of games occasionally.

Does anyone say anything to those near them booing him?

I do, i have said to people around me when he's booed that he often scores or assists when he is playing badly.

Booing someone the way he gets singled out is pathetic.

What worries me (and this isn't a dig at SaintsFanAlex, because I think he's ok really) is that I can see Billy Sharp being the next one they get at just because they don't understand his play.

Racism always gets brought up when a non white player is booed etc. How sad is that, tbh I think some people see him as lazy. But what he did today will only make things worse.
