Think this could be the first time I've ever agreed with you! The man has a terrific pedigree in football and I think could be really good for us! I won't rant today... it's better to laugh then cry.
He certainly won't tell them they are doing well when they are missing the target so much. He will tell them how it is instead of trying to be best buddies with them.
I'm not one for hitting the panic button. As a team we're currently sailing in some very troubled waters and at the moment there's no sign of calmer ones on the horizon. Nick is learning his trade and at the moment he's having a rough time. I want the bloke to succeed so all this calling for his head is a bit much, a bit soon. What I will say though is this. We lose our next five and he'll have to go. I'm no stato but I'd like to know what the longest run of defeats is that a manager has had and survived the chop. I'd be shocked if anyone has got past nine losses in a row before being given the elbow. Imagine the start to next season coming off that run of form and IMO without two or three influential current first teamers. Interesting times lay ahead.
Thank god. I'm saying it's better that I laugh than cry... we're becoming laughable :/. Squad depth is not good enough.
I know Barmby hasn't had nearly long enough in the job, but if we start next season as poorly as we are ending this one, I think he would do the sensible thing and step down. McCarthy would be great - who can forget the line "Opinions are like backsides - everyone's got one but you shouldn't air it in public!"
"We've got the drug testers here today. They shouldn't be going to see the players. They should go to see the officials instead." "At the moment we've got 16 first team players. My initials stand for Mick McCarthy, not Merlin the Magician." "F**king abysmal, that was what I f**king thought of it [a Wolves own goal after just 60 seconds of a match against Reading in January 2009]. C'mon, let's get to it, I'm trying my best here. What did I make of it? I thought it was the best bit of f**king football I've seen in a long time. Do me a favour. It was a crap start to a game. There you have it, can you print all that? F**king rubbish, absolute tosh. Drivel. ****e. Bullshit. That's what I thought of it. Did that help? I'm quite pleased, apart from the fact that's given them the poxy result, I'm f**king livid about it – of course I am. So, there you have it." Anyone who uses the word 'quintisentially' in a half time talk is talking crap." Reporter: "No yellow cards today..." McCarthy: "No and I asked all the lads to go out there and knock seven bells out of everybody as well like I normally do. Shame that isn't it? They went out there and played free-flowing football and were rampant for 45 minutes. What were they playing at?" "Every single one of the players has been slapped around the head but they keep coming back for more." "The Serbian keeper is a big tart doing that [going down injured] because there's nothing wrong with him"
We could sell Stewart. Maclean, Fryatt, Simpson. With the money buy a couple of lower league strikers and hope they come good. Surely anybody is better than the current lot ?
If we don't score a goal in the last 5 games that will ONE goal in the last 11 games ! Surely that is a record !
Fryatt maybe, the rest would be nominal fees or frees, and you don't sell your top scorer to gamble on some lower league players coming good.
Yeah - watch us beat Barnsley, Barnsley sack Hill, Barnsley appoint Mick who returns to haunt us next season!
It's okay calling Fryatt our 'top scorer' but he's garbage to be honest. He's probably the best striker we have but that's not saying much. Even Barmby seems to be losing faith in him.
I thought last season was dire yet we scored 52 goals. Not going to get anywhere near that this season !
I'd be happy to see him and Mclean go, we only got in such a good position because of a great defence and Korens goals, with the defence missing and no Koren we are a shambles to be honest. I remember years ago us going down but the strikers bagged quite a few goals anyway, think Payton got 25 so Fryatts lack of goals isn't due to no creativity like he said the other week. Lost faith in the guy, and Mclean isn't good enough. Not a knee jerk response either, usually I back us whenever we lose but the wheels have come off now.
Lets not mess about, there was only one reason Fryatt came to our club. Now that reason has gone is it a surprise to see him not performing? Yes it is unprofessional - Nigel didnt pay his wages, Hull City did / do - but it's no shock.
as an (un) fitting analogy, at this time of year with religion to fore, its important to consider that if you put Jesus in a devil suit, he would nt do very good either
