Interesting, and backs up something I heard in the commentary of our last game, in saying that Ade is the most effective striker in the PL atm with goals AND assists. Should quieten down those who think its all about goals!
For those that love stats, Adebayor seems to be near the top of every one of the stat based player comparison thingies. He's 3rd in the Premier League's one, fir example. I don't put that much faith in those things though, as they tend to end up with some ineffective players ranking well.
Just seen this link, anyone agree that Kuyt would provide good backup on the right for Lennon? Just on a one year contract? Thought about making a thread, but thought I'd discuss it in the Pub first.
Liverpool fans are all fairly agreed in their opinion that Kuyt is quite poor now. A lot of effort, not much quality. I wouldn't want him.
His sole contribution to the game for the last few years is his irritating habit of scoring late goals against teams deserving of a better result after doing sod all else in the game - which isn't worth fifty grand a week or whatever we'd pay him.
Anyone else think our South American scout wants a raise? He got us Sandro, we've borrowed Bruno Uvini, we're supposedly after Julian Velazquez and Christian Ramirez, plus the Leandro situation is ongoing.
Kuyt's a hard player to dislike and I'm sure he'll get a decent move, but I don't think he'd be right for us at the moment. With his attitude and commitment to the cause, he'd probably do a very good job at the other Merseyside club.
he scores alot of vital goals and hardly seems phased by the fact that he is a sub..ive always liked Kuyt but i dont want a team of Kuyt's..we already got Parker and Sandro starting a fair few games...even though diffrent positions i still wouldnt want a team resembling a upper class Stoke.
There's talk that we'll sign Uvini if he gets into Brazil's Olympic squad - even though, at around £3m, it's not like he's a high risk investment. If we get Velazquez for the quoted £4m, that could be a good deal as he's made his Argentina debut - whilst £1.5m for Ramirez could be a steal, even if the "new Roberto Carlos" tag makes me wary, not least because he's Ecuadorian...
All 3 of those would be excellent deals too. £8.5 for 3 potentially very good players would be worthy of a pay rise for sure! Any one "in the know" have any news on Uvini?
Rumours doing the rounds of the cut off point being in the 130s (don't shoot the messenger please!). I have 136. Can't deal with this tension.
