    and there she blows <laugh>

as per usual off on a tangent when there is no reply/comeback

So now an accusation is 'proof'? so if I say you are a dickhead is that sufficient proof? or is it only when you say so?

You really are ludicrous. This is nearly as good as your views on abiogenesis, abiogenesis <laugh>

I didnt ask you about the 'other' flags. I simply asked why the Israeli one. simply as I saw it on tele and was suprised. Instead of just replying thta some do it you got ultra defensive , as usual, and started looking for excuses

Yo are fast confirming that you are in fact not atheist but zionist. But of course you can have atheist Jews, right? who gave them the land they illegaly occupy? cant have been the 'non existent God'

    Where's the tangent?
You asked me questions and I replied to them directly.
    You're utterly ridiculous.

Who gave Israel to the Jews? Britain did. Get over it, you anti-Semitic bigot.

...after we had promised an Arab homeland for helping us out in the first World War.

Fast forward to after the Second World War and our brave boys were hunting Palestinian families out of their own homes to make way for this new country.

Name a sizeable conflict in the world and it's fairly easy to trace the blame back to Blighty <ok>

If you want something a little more recent, then the Vietnam War.

I was referring to current conflicts - I'm sure there's a few somewhere in the world.

But for Vietnam, it was mostly the fault of the French (I'm sure you knew that).

But, guess who helped the French commit a massacre in Saigon in 1945?

The French were also assisted diplomatically in their aim of re-taking Vietnam from Ho Chi Minh by the Brits and supported the placing of Bao Dai as puppet ruler for the French (much like Britain had done when it created a weird nation called Iraq or when they installed the Shah in Persia).

If the US and the UK hadn't backed the French placing Bao Dai as ruler, the Vietnam War (or the American War as the Vietnamese call it) would never had happened.

So, in summary, it was the fault of the French but we played our usual part in it <ok>

    Which is fair enough.

I'm not gonna get dragged into some Rebel/Medro type ongoing thing and I'm not suggesting Britain and British people haven't done enormous good for the world because we have.

It's just that we should all accept that the majority of trouble in the world is directly related to the hangover of our Empire and no one country has caused as much carnage worldwide as we have.

If you follow a winding enough route, then I'm sure you can make tenuous enough connections from every major modern war to the major players in the world.
Blaming the British for being the most successful imperialists is pointless, as everyone else was trying to do exactly the same thing, but didn't do it as well.

The British Empire (the Royal Navy) singlehandedly ended the Slave Trade out of Africa.

    One example.

Of course the Empire did a lot of harm, but it also did a helluva lot of good. Different times different values,so we cannot judge them by modern standards, and as PNP says we just happened to be better at empire than most other countries and we have after all handed most of out colonies back to the indigenous peoples.

Some countries have no intention of ever handing back territories they took by force during their colonial days.

I'm not going to do a Rebel/Medro relentless thing - I've already said this but PNP was disputing the thing I'd asserted and then tried to play the "but we were better at oppressing than everyone else".

Britain pretty much started the international slave trade so claiming we finished it is somewhat akin to the Spaniards looking for animal rights awards for stopping bullfighting.

Even when we "abolished" it, we maintained exceptions that allowed it to carry on in areas we used slaves (India and Sri Lanka for example as well as in the Caribbean) - basically, British abolition of slavery was telling everyone else to stop it but allowing it in our Empire and existing slaves were kept by Brits - only very young slave children were "freed"*.

Some of our biggest cities were built on international slavery and our Empire most certainly was.

    *most were in fact killed

Slavery and the slave trade predates the Roman Empire, so I'm not sure how you're pinning it at Britain's door.
    It predates written history.
Even European slavery isn't traceable to these shores.

Slavery existed in many forms across antiquity and before - the Greeks got rid of it, though, and the Romans used international slaves on a never-before seen scale.

The British and Spanish Empires made it a worldwide business - the likes of which were never seen before and never will again.

The abolition was not driven by Christian sensibilities or by altruism - it's a murkier business than you reckon - our old bassist studied the abolition at Uni and it was driven by very powerful companies and the rationale was purely financial - even then, we had clauses in it to continue some of our foreign slavery practices under different names (in India, they were called apprentices).

Incidentally, did you know that the Americans abolished slavery before us?

Three weeks before - Thomas Jefferson passed a bill outlawing it - like our bill, though, it allowed slavery to continue.

Mississippi seceded from the Union after Jefferson's act.

The point as much as anything was that bills proclaiming to end slavery just made it more palatable.

I got your point, I just thought it was quite funny, to be honest.
Kentucky took over a century, too.

Still not sure why you're putting this at Britain's door, though.
It's not like it was an idea that was exported, as virtually every culture seems to have some history of it.

<laugh> there she blows again. you ought to be known as PleaseNotPissy <laugh>

Look at the questions <doh> . Its really quite funny watching you try to duck the ones you cannot answer and go off on a tangent.
    Then you act all innocent

So asking why people carry the flagg of a certain country to your teams ground is now anti-semetic?

Tell me one thing will you
What is it about 'atheists' like you and the ahmedinajad bloke on here and your obvious defence of anything jewish/Israeli?
why dont you fellas admit you are zionist Jews?

In fact are you the same person? because your arguments are very similar, the same in fact.

Tell me also how did the universe begin?

    <laugh>
