Has anybody else noticed that saints seem to be playing there games this weekend quicker than the Reading & West ham Saints play sat then monday Reading play Fri then Tuesday West ham play Fri then monday so the ones benefiting out off the rest is reading as they have three days rest between games ? ,but on the flip side we have three days to there two before they come to St Marys Will this go against us in the end or have we got the squad to cope with it
Maybe but reading play us on the Friday and we get an extra days rest. Theoretically it should work in west hams favour.
I think it is a tough ask for us on monday as we play Pompey sat, which will be high intensity and demanding on the players, but Palace also play saturday so should even out.. Also, i may add i don't think it makes much difference the others playing different days, Reading having a day less before they play us is a little bonus though i guess!
I wonder if we might see one or two first teamers miss out on Saturday in preparation for Monday, in particular Rickie given his possible injury situation. Anyway the only team that has a day extra rest over their next opposition is West Ham.
I'd probaly say its the other way around, with a few changes for Palace rather than Pompey (Martin, Harding, Barnard, De Ridder)
The Monday game has worked to our advantage as it has allowed us to take close to 6 thousand fans to an away match. If it was being played on Tuesday night we wouldn't have got half that. Pompey was always going to be early on a Saturday for policing reasons.
I think this was part of the reason why Rickie wasn't risked against Blackpool. We need him to be 100% fit for both Pompey and Palace.
i Agree about Rickie , as i have looked back at our game at Fall down park , Rickie as Injured, the two games before we played them with a hip injury ? is this tactical ,yet again by Nigel. I would say Rickie will be biting the bit to play Saturday
Remember West Ham played three games in seven days last week including two away games and then Reading at home, whereas Reading didn't play midweek.
Doesn't really matter that we're playing Saturday --> Monday, as Palace are doing the same thing. So however tired the Saints players are, C Palace have had the same thing. Seems fair enough?
