Comparing MM to DJ is futile. None of us have any idea as to who woluld have been in DJ's squad this season. That said, I don't think that anyone who wants to have a go at the comparison should "shut up". I also think that if we don't question, we become blind followers.
DJ left the club because he and the club agreed that he'd gone as far as he could with the club. That in itself was ambiguous........did it mean that DJ wasn't good enough, or did it mean that he thought that he couldn't take the club forward for other reasons?
Given some of the candidates reported to have been interviewed for the job, I was disappointed when MM was appointed. However, I have been impressed by the new work ethic he's imposed on the squad and certainly by the start to the season. I've been further impressed by how he presents himself and his relationships with press and supporters. But, there is as remote points out, a lack of clarity in what's going on. The percieved lack of activity in strengthening the squad has raised worries, and perhaps an idea of where we tried would put some minds at rest.
Of course, it would be daft to think about showing MM the door at this stage.....he deserves a full summer to rebuild and another season to see if we progress. However, we can't go down the road of another six seasons before we decide we've got the wrong bloke at the helm. In saying that, it might be good if the club made a statement about it's medium and long term plans..............manage expectation a bit.
