If Nelsen gets a new deal and then Redknapp jumps ship to the England job I will be fuming.

Kaboul, Dawson, Caulker and NEW CENTRE BACK with King kept would be my preferred choice.

    Gallas, Nelsen and Bassong out.

Vertonghen looks to be a same bet to be NCB.

Bassong will be leaving, and one of Gallas and Nelsen.

If Nelsen is kept around to teach the younger CBs in training (which is how we used Naybet a few years back, and to a certain degree Gallas for our CL campaign) it isn't reason to pick up the torches and pitchforks by any means - offering a new, improved contracts to Bentley, Jenas, Alnwick and Obika is.

I like Nelsen and will be glad if we keep him and Gallas for next season

Do you mean Obika? Or Khumalo? Interesting the OS hasn't even got a picture of him.

Agree, done nothing wrong (apart from being old). His goal against Bolton really settled the team down. And as as he scored from a dead ball should be accorded legend status?

The OS doesn't have a pic of Caulker or Naughton either. At a guess, any player that was out on loan late last year wasn't available to have their pic taken - Bentley and Jenas are on there because they're rehabbing their respective injuries at Spurs Lodge.

Swansea missed Caulker yesterday, it seemed to me anyway. Wonder what the swansea fans thought?

I had a look at their board yesterday GH10 and they seemed to think that Caulker's absence was a major part in the result.
    They really rate him.

We did very much miss him yesterday, we had Monk in his place and he is out of his depth at this level, though he has been one of stalwarts of the team for many years. Hope you will loan Caulker to us again next season. In truth though do you need him ?

Yeah, we will. We'll almost certainly be in Europe next season so we'll need another CB with Gallas, King and Dawson all having injury problems of the year(s). I'd expect Nelsen and Bassong to leave in the summer too so there will be the room for him but we might sign a new defender in the summer which could limit his chances.

Redknapp said after the FA Cup 1/4 final that he wants to get Nelsen a new deal for one more year, so I imagine he will. Bassong almost certain to leave though.

Might be none of Redknapp's business by then?

Caulker will probably play back up to Ledley, Younes and Daws next season. Reckon he'll jump above Gallas and Nelsen. Bassong will likely be sold. With Ledley, Daws and Gallas always picking up injuries, Caulker could actually play a big part next season. I just hope Harry does intend to use him as much as possible, otherwise I'd rather he gets loaned again so he can get more game time, leaving him on the bench won't do him any good. If not by sometime next season, the season after will definitely see a Caulker and Kaboul 1st choice pairing.

Cheers for info VS. I think Caulker will play for us next season, King is no longer the force he was, alas.

Yep, I expect Nelsen to stay, and deservedly so. I think Bassong will leave, because he wants regular first team football, which he's unlikely to get with us. We could do with the money too, as spending will be needed.

Shame for us , but he is a cracking player and will fit in for you if given the chance. Though I hope he gets his head around his off field activities of late.

The decentr thing for the club to do would be to give Swansea first refusal on Bassong, for their part in Caulker's development.

Bassong would probably do a good job for them, Croydon.
He was a major part of our 4th place finish a couple of years ago, though his lack of games since then had probably severely damaged his development.
