Forget the aerial battle. Just watch out for the 'in yer face ' stuff early on to unsettle our lightweights.

I predict 6 'tackles' on our boys that are worthy of yellows (but won't be given) inside 10 minutes.

Hughes will send his team out with the intent to injure early on. One of the most vile managers in all of football.

I was talking about Stoke. However my boyhood liking for the 'Rs' has diminished over the years with successive crap owners and managers.

Mark Huge is a prime cynical exponent of the dark art.

I do think that fan opinion does eventually send a message to the club. Whilst I would doubt Wenger reads not606 (though I suspect that some at the club would - even some players maybe), the general feeling does make itself known. There is no doubt Wenger has been under more pressure over the last year from fans and he certainly knows it.

He's been under pressure for sure. But that is a million miles from claiming that the only reason he's made changes is because the doom mongers told him to. Frankly that is laughable. The last time I looked most of the doom mongers were calling for him to be sacked.

I have often argued that he can more of a handful on the ground as he is deceptively skillful at times. I think Kos can handle him though. I'd be more afraid of a stocky powerful forward as we tend to struggle more in the air against those powerful types.

I think Kos and Vermaelen have got enough between them to deal with Crouch.

Wenger and Hughes hate each other too. Expect Barton to play and expect him to be provoking as well as leaving his studs in at every opportunity.

I hope the ref deals with the tackles the same was as he did with Cisse last week - I just get the feeling those types of tackles will be yellows instead of reds this time, and if one of our players reacts they will be off.

You're not understanding Hothead's point - or you are trying to skew it to change the intent.

The point is that fan unrest puts pressure on a manager and forces him to do something about it. If everyone was tolerant of poor results and still idolised the manager, he will of course feel less pressure to change his approach. We'll never know if his reasons for wholesale changes at the club were part of his plan (i doubt it) or because he knew that he was wrong and was under intense pressure.

I don't think Wenger relies on fan pressure to inform his decision making.

In all honesty I think we are more equipped this season to deal with the likes of Stoke. We have manned up quite a bit and although I would argue we need a powerhouse in midfield, what we have is more physical than last year.

Agreed <ok> I think we are better equipped to deal with the 'get in their faces' approach from teams. That said, Stoke have also upped the technical side of their game. But I still think we've got enough to take all 3 points from them.

You're exhibiting the same tendency to polarise the discussion again. No one said he relies on fan pressure. I am saying it has an effect. To suggest that the mood of fans has no effect on Wenger is wrong in my view. I think in some way it does influence every managers decision making.

But what was being argued was that it was a direct result of fan pressure and changes were only made because fans called for it. It was also suggested that if the 'deniers' had their way we would be languishing in mid table. I'm arguing against that, because I think it's wrong.
