If he's supposedly stalling at being offered £100K a week plus a £4m signing on bonus (read it somewhere, not sure if it was on talksport or something else) then quite frankly he can go and enjoy the view on City's bench for all I care.

    agreed SOS.

he might have a point if he'd scored more for us so far. Ba, Dempsey and Holt have scored more and won't be earning close to that.

Ade has been great at linking up the play but i agree wouldnt pay more than 100k per week for him. If the clause in Ba contract is true at only 7mill why not make a cheeky bid for him?

It's TOTALLY the right decision not to sign him permanently,he just has not been good enough. I know that that might incense the Ade supporters but I'm certain we can do better for less.

he's made a real difference to us in the linking sense, like VDM says, there's no doubt about that. but for 100k a week, we need a striker that's going to score more goals. in fact, for me, its the fact that he misses far too many opportunities. when you're paying that sort of money, you need someone who's gonna bury it. simple as that.

The Beeb gossip column said it was Talksport but the article linked to the Fail.

There's no reason to believe the article but if it's true and we can't afford him then that's disappointing. Tottenham's been good for him and he's been good for Tottenham, to throw that away for a few million to stay in the reserves at City or play for some two bob Russian club owned by a criminal and with racist fans seems greedy and spineless.

Agree with this. He claims that it is about supporting charities in Togo. If that were true, I am sure Spurs would sponsor work there in his and our name so that it can continue.

Remy is a similar player, yet younger and - crucially - his wage demands will be more reasonable.

    Let him go.

He's done alright for us but the goals dried up quickly and no way is he worth more than 100k a week.

There's a reason why he has so many clubs.

This is what I suggested a few months back. If what Ade says is true, then Levy can say to him "look, we aren't going to break our wage structure, however in your contract I will put that we will sponsor your charities......."

If Ade really wants to play football, then he'd lose all integrity to reject such an offer.

    Good.

We need to get someone in who is far more clinical in front of goal!

I think Remy is a strong possibility this summer after the links in Jan.

I think Ade is our best striker, but if he wants silly wages, then we'll have to pass.

I think he actually has played really well in parts this season, against Chelsea for example, my issue with him is infront of goal!!!

He misses far too many chances and for me isnt clinical enough. He seems to need 5 or 6 chances per game to get a goal and we cannot afford to keep creating 20+ goal scoring opportunities per game and only converting 1 of them (obviously not just down to Ade).

Our problem is anyone better will command those kind of wages or more, or do we risk signing a Premier League unknown and hope that they adapt to our league.

Its a tricky one for sure.

I think Ade has played very well this this season and is our best striker. It's unlikely we'll get in a replacement as good as him. But if we can't afford him, what can we do?

Demba Ba is the one if we can prise him away from the Toon. Not sure if he can pass a medical though, as has been the problem in the past.

    According to this

    http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine...es-most-creative-strikers-revealed-168229?p=2

Not only is Ade our top Prem goalscorer, he leads the WHOLE LEAGUE in striker assists. Add to that the defensive work he does from set pieces, his strong running presence, we'll do very well to find someone better. I doubt we will.

I think he's our best striker since Klinsmann, maybe I've missed someone out. He's certainly been one of our best in the Prem era.

agreed. this is who I'd be looking at instead of Remy. Remy looks useful, but i don't personally think he's a "similar player to Adebayor" from what i've seen, and he's certainly not proven in the prem.

Ghoddle - You saying Adebayor is better than Sheringham, Keane or Berbatov?

I think the lack of goals recently may be a harsh reason on its own to say no. Rooney went on an awful barren run, but his team play more than merited SAF to keep him. Not comparing their ability, just the situation, but imo he's no 170k/wk striker, the unfortunate thing here is, he thinks he is.
