Beating barca or real this season would be an incredible achievement.

Agreed, I think being in the last 4 of the most difficult club comp on the planet after the season we've had would be a huge achivement anyway. As long as we don't embarress ourselves against that team!

Aah-hah!...that thought is in the back of your mind...or maybe a little further forward? :D

Judging by your answer, a weaker team in the semi v us then?

Doubt it, more likely be a weaker team vs Arsenal the following week and a weaker team vs Fulham/Wigan the week before. We've got Wigan on Sat 7th then Fulham on Mon 9th <laugh> Going to be a LONG month!

No idea why Liverpool can't play on the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
I'm sure that Everton fans would all be exceptionally respectful, too.

Just making an observation: Rangers have played on the anniversary of both Ibrox disasters, Bradford have played on the anniversary of the Valley Parade fire, Manchester United have played on the anniversary of the Munich air disaster - and those are just the British clubs that I can list off the top of my head, and that's before considering Spartak Moscow on the anniversary of the Luzhniki disaster or Torino on the anniversary of the Superga air disaster.

Don't be afraid to say it, the Scousers make a bigger deal of Hillsborough than necessary. Bradford was equally harrowing to watch, the old boy who ran the wrong way, toward the heat and his clothes just spontaneously ignited stays with me. Its a brave man to say which was worse, and both appalling tragedies deserve remembrance, but you certainly hear less of the latter.

Agreed notso, but I don't think anyone can have a pop at Liverpool for respecting the families of the deceased's wishes.

Bradford was as awful as Hillsbrough...but the police didnt lie about those at Bradford nor did the press whereas pool fans had ****ing outragous lies told about them.
As for Chelsea .... 4 or 5 yrs ago we were made to play them at 12.30 on a Saturday after playing away in Spain on the Thursday night leaving just 38hrs between matches....what goes round comes round!

Last season, we had to play Everton on a Saturday lunchtime after a match at the San Siro on Wednesday night, from which we didn't get back until the small hours of Thursday morning. Usually when a Premiership team plays an away CL match on a Wednesday night, the earliest their PL game will be is Saturday evening, so we should probably thank Sky for scheduling our match to prove such a thing as post-Europe burnout does exist...

I think the only reason we are mift about this time is because we're having to play so many games as it is, we're about to play our 9th game of March on Saturday and then a possible 8 more in April, I'm not usually one to moan about that sort of stuff but it's obviously going to be awful on the legs come the latter stages of April!

My point entirely, the team would love to win a game for those families as a tribute, like all teams do on a black armband day.

I agree with that but it's actually the decision of the families that Liverpool don't play on that day...I think.

Beating both would be such an achievement, that it would be deserving of the Champions League! <whistle>

<laugh> Probably one of the hardest paths a team would have to face. I don't think ANY team in the prem is capable of beating either tbh but stranger things have happened!

Getting your excuses in early Drogs ? <whistle>

I said before the game last night that I thought Chelsea would nick a 1-0 and lose at home 2-1 so I'm clinging on to that prediction :D

Ultimately I can see why it benefits Spurs for us to have potentially our 2 biggest games on the season within 48 hours but take away bias, it is a joke that we could be forced into that position. The FA should protect the english clubs in Europe as much as they can and it is quite an exceptional circumstance that could come up.

Ultimately it helps the coefficient if we do well which protects England's 4th C.L spot.

I agree 100%. It is funny though. I want Chelsea into the semis as it helps to tire them out. If they catch Barca on a couple of bad days it will be a very nervous final if we are in 4th <yikes>

What is Chelsea's fixture list in April looking like then assuming they finish off Benfica at SB next week?

Someone paste a list please.
