    Interesting article, I'm sure PL can make it work but I'd be concerned the likes of Fox and Whitbred may be contacted by bigger clubs with more cash to splash.

    I'd wager that if we were looking likely for the drop they'd already be on new contracts to ensure we could win the Championship. I think this is just the club trying to strengthen it's hand for the summer negotiations.

    i like the way the daily mail quotes Whitbread and ward as being key players, then also mentions David Fox being out of contract...Fox is a key player!!

    All this mustn't detract from the main aim of winning football matches. This is one of the banes of modern football. Clubs must now think the players are doing them a favour. It used to be that clubs were doing the favour by employing them. As McCarthy said about Roger Johnson, in any other profession, if you turned up pissed for work you would be sacked but the club could do nothing punitive except drop him. They really wanted to sack him!

    Agent provocateur at work? I can't really see any of the players setting out to rock the boat. They seem to be as much in dreamland as the rest of us. <ok>
