The only logical reason is that it is an attempt to tice back all the Mags whe deserted the site, as they seem to be the ones who are into this rep mullarky...

Rep is wher you can give a negative or positive 'rep[utation]' to a post and then leave a comment with it...It used to be terrible when it was anonymous, as it gave the cowards a chance to leave some awful personal comments on other posters. The Mags on here seem to get some kind of pleasure from giving each other loads of positive rep: why, I don't know...

I'm the toss pot who brought it back and part was certainly to attract some Newcastle supporters back along with many who like rep and tags.

TBH I fail to see a problem with either, I use neither, look at neither and would ask,"What sort of toss pot decides to go looking for something they don't like, something it takes effort to find just so they can complain about it"?

Now why was it brought back, well it goes like this. The forum develops and between us, me and Mick, we try to improve things, not an easy task because whatever we do to please one will upset another.

Because of problems we removed tags, rep and cross board threads along with chatbox, the easy option would be to just leave them dead, I don't like easy.

So, tags and rep came back but none are now anonymous so you can abuse but no longer hide, bad abuse will lead to bans and already has.

Chatbox is back but hidden as part of GC.

Cross board threads will hopefully come back but with safeguards to ensure they don't become the wums weapon to abuse.

    Yours,

    tosspot

I don't have a problem with rep now that the anonymity has been removed, although I can't for the life of me see the attraction of it..

    Hahaha nice syd, very nice.

It isn't very hard to look for when people have 'spare any rep?' In their signature and people decide that 'rep' is an utterance.

Was the forum worse without it?

You can't help but see it if you want to send someone a PM, there it is, right in front of you.

Just my opinion but rep is total bollocks.

Many boards, not just Newcastle, have been quiet and I'm always looking at what we can do to attract people. Most of the toys I dont use but if we attract new users and they work its fine by me.

Not in my face when I send a PM and I send lots, funny how we dont like rep or tags but we only have one tag on this thread?

I personally believe rep and tags are great and beneficial to Not606. Obviously, some do not like it so if that's the case then don't use them.

I think the chat box has both good and bad advantages to it. The good is that it allows you to chat to other users on the site and discuss stuff such as footy action, etc. The bad being users are likely to discuss the footy action in the chat box and not commenting in the threads and topics on their board.
