Up late again. OK, I'm writing this and then it's off up that wooden hill... One would have to have a heart of stone not to have a soft spot for Alan Pardew. We know he turned the club around, as far as the team on the pitch were concerned. And I've heard comments in the past of his season at Saints. He really enjoyed his time, there's no doubt about that. He's also said some nice things about players he was involved with, down here. Well, inevitably he's been asked to give his opinion, in this article, about Rickie Lambert. And it's about the nicest thing I've read about Rickie from a manager whose ability and judgement I respect: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ng-Rickie-Lambert-succeed-Premier-League.html
To label a player a legend when he hasn't been with us for 3 full seasons yet, cannot be done lightly..........but Rickie Lambert is a Saints legend
Nice article to read. I'm sure Pardew will get a good welcome at SMS if (sigh) we go up. May not have been the right man for us in the long term, but he gave us the foundations of the present team and our great day out to Wembley.
Easily nestled in there as our second best striker since we've been out of the prem (Jones was a lot better). He deserves a go in the prem after the **** he's had in his career.
Nice insight his humble beginnings and struggle up the ladder and finally getting recognition from people in the game the media and fans is great and in some ways is what the spirit of sport is about .We all love and appreciate our academy as it is one of the best but there is something clinical in the way players are produced and more often than not discarded and those who make it often have no concept of the real world having been in the football bubble since a young age with every one telling them how good they are.The fact that Rickie worked for a living and worked his way up is a testament to him and is why he is a superb player and and what appears a nice guy.He is star at thirty years old and has earnt it and it begs the question how much other talent is kicking around the lower and non league scene
A nice article and kind words from Pardew though my cynical side will hope if we fail to go up that Demba Ba stays at Newcastle
The best ST since Beattie is our Rickie! And a massive massive massive thanks for Alan Pardew who spotted him and realised his potential!
Never had a bad thought about pards was very good for us many of his signings are the core of our team now. Was completly shocked and angered when he was sacked although the replacements done alright hasnt he?
Sacking Pardew was masterstroke. Far to much hoofball and one dimensional play. That said he did have a good eye for talent and an ability to get the players here.
What world are you from? Jones highest scoring season for us was 15 maybe? You really must be deluded or trying to be controversial?!
I have decided that this is my word of the day. My day is already excellent but I hope it gets excellenter.
Never thought I'd see the day, but I completely agree with sharpshooter! Kenwyne Jones was not even half the player Lambert is.
