I was thinking regardless of whether we get promoted or not we are going to need some fresh faces in the side for another push for promotion or to bolster ourselves for the premiership. Which experienced players do you think will be available and willing to come to us, and who would you want (or not want for that matter). I personally recognise that we may need to bolster most sections of the team with some current players making way but im not really sure who we could bring in.. (please dont use this to bash current players that you dont like/rate, just suggest realistic alternatives)
It really depends on the outcome of this season - we could attract the likes of Whittingham and Snodgrass, possibly Matt Phillips if we get promoted. No chance of getting top Championship players like these if we don't.
Hm, there's probably louds out there - look at some of the players Swansea have bought in, such as Gylfi and Vorm. If we can get anywhere near that sort of quality I'd be delighted, but Adkins will have to look hard. The only person I've seen isn't experienced but COULD be useful - Stefan Savic. I know, I know, not the greatest ever this year. But he's certainly a prospect better than what we've got.
I think we need a RB, a CB, a RM and another big forward! I think realistically and based on FM2012, the following players could be realistic signings for us: A RB: Clyne (Crystal Palace), Kelly (Fulham) A CB: unsure A RM: Phillips (Blackpool) A ST: unsure
Not very realistic if judging by FM2012. Blackpool wanted 20mill for him, with 2 years left on his contract!
I think people will look at us as a rising club and that will appeal to quite a few higher profile players
If we go up and our interested.. With a year to go.. It will be in Phillips interest to move on.. He will put a transfer request if his manager doesn't let him Leave... But in honesty I'd like to sign Matt Jarvis of wolves or victor Moses of the respective clubs.. Should they get relegated
If Wigan go down, as stated McCarthy would be a good signing. I'm mates with his cousin so will no doubt find out where he goes if they go down. Whittingham and Snodgrass would be other quality signings.
Yann Sommer, Kasper Schmeichel or Robbin Ruiter (GK) Ezekiel Fryers (CB) A Tiote/Essien type player, someone who isn't afraid to get their foot in... No idea who though. A RB.. Again, not so sure who, would love Clyne but he's Man United bound. Robert Snodgrass or Albert Adomah (LM/RM/CAM) John Guidetti on loan from Man City (ST)
Kasper shhhhhhhhhhhmeichel as kelvins under study Nathaniel Clyne Peter Whittingham Andy Johnson Berbatov??????????
If we were to be promoted then we should look to get the top players from the championship like snodgrass but we should also look for players with prem experience who are either out of favor with their club or who have been relegated from the prem
If we get promoted we will need to bring in quite a few players IMO. I can't see Nicola being content with merely surviving and calling staying up a successful season. If reports of us offering upwards of £6 million in January for Hooper from Celtic are to be believed, then they seem willing to splash the cash if the right players are available at the right price. We need a new goalkeeper (we only have Davis), centre back (only have Hooiveld, Fonte who are Prem ready), right back (Richardson is good we may need a little better), centre midfield (we need a commanding centre midfielder for me Schneiderlin and Cork are good but they are not reading to take on the responsibility of running the midfield in the Prem, although that will come in time), Right midfield (no one has nailed down the postion this season, although I still hold out hope that next season could be a big year for De Ridder) and another striker (need more fire power, as close to a guarentee to goals as we can get). We must make sure we bring in better than we already have, I hate it when clubs bring in a player as back up. I'm not saying we have to completely break up the side but it needs to be players that can come in and push for a place straight away. I also think we will be able to attract some top class players here as well. Since we were last in the top division the pulling power of the Premiership has gone through the roof. Even the smaller clubs are able to bring in good international quality, so I think we can maybe set our sights a little higher than the better championship players.
I understand everyone's interest in this, but isn't it a little disrespectful to the team trying to get us into the PL. Apart from a few that are rarely involved, most of the team out there fighting for the cause believe they are going to play in the Prem. It's like looking for another marriage partner whilst still walking up the aisle with number one. I think we can leave all the hard choices to Nicola and there will be hard choices because we have quite a big squad.
i dont think its disrespectful, but the currenet squad will obviously get first go next season, we simply lack cover for centre back, right back, left back .left, right and center midfield and of course a keeper. upfront i think we are fine
We also need 19 points from the next 8 games to guarantee promotion. So let's save this discussion for a later date
