The Pennant comment is a joke surely? I don't care what his ability is, I think his diving was disgraceful the other night. If Bale had done anything like that it would have been all over the back pages the next day.
Pennant's too much hassle to be worth considering, though he is a talented player on his day. I'd actually give Shaun Wright-Phillips a thought instead, as he's capable of filling in directly for Lennon and it's obvious that we need someone that can do so. He's been pretty crap this season and he's getting on a bit, but he'd be a possibility way down on the list. He's clearly better at defending set-pieces than some of our players, too... Whats wrong with David Dunn? we are Spurs we love flair
Shouldn't laugh, but the clip in that selection at the end where the kids have a heavy ball and get everyone to fall over is quite funny.
Peter Crouch, David James, David Bentley- that's redknapps most likely plan. Then he'll probably sell Defoe only to buy him back a Season later. You need a top class centre back and a versatile striker.
Milan Badelj, Albin Ekdal, Giuseppe Prestia, Yaroslav Rakitskyi, Ron-Robert Zieler...but enough about FM2012.
It's a big ask to tell the difference between a really top class striker and the next level down. Getting someone better than Adebayor will not be easy. Getting someone better than Saha or Defoe should be possible. I don't rate Defoe as a starter but I think he is a good impact sub.
Llorente and Krul have just signed new contracts so can't really see us getting either of those two. I would go for: If Friedel retires in the Summer, I would be tempted to give the no 1 shirt to Cudicni for a year and get in a young goalkeeper and ease him into it (cup games). Maybe Yann Sommer of Basle? Get Jan Vertonghen in and let Bassong and maybe Gallas go. Would like to see us keep Corluka if we can keep him happy. Winger wise I would go for Krasic despite him not being able to get in the Juventus team. And obviously another striker, Adebayor if we can afford his wages to keep and maybe Olivier Giroud of Montpellier? Dream buys: Lloris Hazard Remy Llorente Modric/Bale Robben
i would like to see Vorm as our keeper, not sure if anyone would get him from Swansea though, unless they went down and that won't be this season.would'nt want Robben,to injury prone,Hazard a good shout, and if it's true about us as strong Favorites for Rossi, that would be a good signing too
Swansea fans have commented that, whilst he's a good shot-stopper, his distribution is poor. When signing a goalkeeper, we need one who doesn't cause problems with poor choices when passing out the ball, just as much as we don't want one who can be relied on to drop a dozen clangers a season.
Distribution is something that can easily be worked on. For me, he looks a good bet. And probably far easier to get than Krul.
Our squad could look like this if we do nothing: (I favour 4231) Freidel Gomes Cudicini Walker Naughton Smith Kaboul Dawson King Gallas Caulker Assou-Ekottu Rose Sandro Huddlestone Parker Livermore Pienaar Modric Kranjcar Carroll Bale Lennon Townsend Van der Vaart Dos Santos Falque Saha Defoe Kane That assume that Corluka, Bassong, Nelsen, Khumalo, Jenas and Bentley are moved on to get within the 25-man limit The weak spots are goalkeeper (where they are either too old or unreliable), centre back (if King and or Gallas retire) and striker. If one of our young keepers was good enough for the third spot then that would free up a place, as would getting rid of Pienaar and Dos Santos. If we could sign four or five really good players we would look exceptionally strong. But that is a big ask. Vorm, Adebayor, Llorente, Vertonghen and Hazard instead of Gomes/Saha/Pienaar/Gallas/Dos Santos?
would Ade take drop in wages to join us,i do'nt think he's worth over 80k a week ,let alone what he get's.
