where would you play guly

ok, we have had the pro guly article- most people are on board that he is a quality player and an asset to the team. but if you were the gaffer, in what position would you play him to get the best out of him. personally i would like him tried in the middle next to spidey with two strikers up front- with spidey as the holding midfielder. i do not think he is suited to the wing as he drifts in and can leave the fullback exposed, he is good in the hole behind rickie-but rickie goes a wondering as well popping up on the wing and leaving no-one up front
 
He's so hot then cold its a difficult one. Up at Millwall i thought he changed the game when he moved into midfield but can offer a lot up front also
 
Behind the Striker in the hole, Rm doesn't work for him.
 
This is the formation I think would get the best out of Guly :-

Lambert up front who can move about to make space and hold up the ball. Supported by Lallana & Guly who can either move out to the wings or tuck inside or help out in midfield. Cork & spider can run midfield and push forward to support the front three in attack. Hammond will be the holding defensive midfielder to help protect our centre backs because both I want both Richardson & Fox to get forward as much as possible to help give us width with plenty of crosses into the box! Hes not a winger and that is part of the reason of all the stick hes got. He can play there make no doubt but id rather have punch chappers or de ridder their especially away from home. Where he is best is floating around in the middle attacking the goal thats where he played in Italy. Anyway glad to see hes hitting top form, he was a massive part of our early storming run and probably our run now.

I agree. On the subject of natural wingers in a 4-4-2 however, how many do we actually have? Guly isn't. Chaplow started in CM and got ousted (down the pecking order) and is now apparently a winger; I still think he's a good central player. Lallana on the left side is wasted IMO and is probably better placed in lazyboy's suggested line-up. So that just leaves us with Puncheon and De Ridder.

And who may they be because I can't think of a single one.

What I do know is that the fans of other clubs seem to think a lot more of him than many of our own fans. Just ask the Hull and Burnley fans for a start.

At the risk of repeating myself Guly will be a star in the PL as will Morgan. Chaplow, De Ridder and Puncheon will not get a game.

Well there were some delightful toe-rags in the Saints end swearing at the effing Brazilian because he 'didn't know what he was doing' before applauding him a second later.

Getting back to the original question, I think he would thrive in the hole just as he did for the second half against Millwall. He is pretty good as a target man too as he can hold the ball up quite well.

Take that blindfold off next time you watch the game. I don't agree with Godders on much but I cannot believe so many Saints fans cannot see how good this player is!!!! Much like many Man U fans think Park Ji Sung is just a back up player when in fact he is one of the best in the their team. One of the best in their team!!! Different players completely but a similar strange blindness form some fans

What amazes me is how some fans slag him off with such vitriol. I was there at the KC and this loud mouth who thought he was a bit of a jester kept mocking and swearing at him for the whole of the match. But then again these are the fans who shout at the players to run more and close the opposition down with disregard to discipline. I think the truth is that these fans are used to blood and thunder dinosaur football and are not used to the evolution of our changing game where pressing is coordinated and players try to hold the ball up or hit space rather than simply running full tilt at the opposition with the ball.
