At this point, if Nigel pencils in a plate of lukewarm cabbage at right back, and a portrait of Mary Queen of Scots in place of Lambert, I'm not going to question it.
He's part of the long term plan. I reckon NA is hand sculpting him in his spare time into the machine he wants for next season (where ever we may be).
Adkins probably realises the heavy weight of expectation on Sharp's shoulder's. If he had been a regular starter and still hadn't scored it would wreck his confidence. Ease him in gently and let him get a few goals under his belt.....................then watch him fly with a regular place.
The idiots who start threads like these, are the same ones who moaned about Adkins being appointed and the signing of Jos Hooiveld after he'd played only a couple of games...
Firstly Sharp is not as fit as most of our regulars and he will be used as an impact player for the time being until he gets used to the styles we play. He will be a regular but not until Adkins is satisfied there is no one better to play the roll he wants him to play. Personally I think there is going to be a right old tussle between him and Lee. I have a feeling that both will be outstanding players for Saints in the future. I don't think either will be necessarily headline grabbers but certainly good honest strikers with a fair amount of goals in them!
Anyone starting a thread and swearing in the title should be sat at home listening to the game with a pointed hat on and facing the corner. At least the OP hasn't tried to avoid the swear filter though as many do!!!
Are you thinking of Lukas Jutkiewicz not playing against Coventry? he was loaned to Middlesborough initially to get the move done sooner. I very much doubt there's such a clause in Sharp's contract. We wanted a proven, Championship striker and we got one of two that we had a realistic chance of getting in January. Maybe Adkins underesti, ated how much work we needed to do with him, but Adkins knows what he can do and is well qualified to bring it out of him. He's better than Maynard IMO.
I would just observe that the reason there was pressure, not least from on these boards for a striker was in case Rickie picked up a knock. If that happened, I am sure that Sharp would have an important part in the rest of the season. As it is, I will be more than happy to only see a couple of cameos from him at the end of games already won, until his fitness is beyond question.
