Mellis was a decent player whenever I'd seen him for the reserves. You're right though, I don't know why he gets sacked when Ash shot someone.
 
Yeah, evidently he was ****e with us <laugh>. Haven't seen him play with Hamburg. Arnesen really loved him though seeing as he's taken him back!
 
Sorry lads, false info. He hasn't been sacked, his contract was 'mutually terminated' <whistle>
 
In truth, Mellis looked a promising youth product, who should be knocking on the door of the 1st team squad! A contemporary of Bertrand and McEachran, I would have expected him to work himself up as a career pro! This story tends to suggest he doesn't have what it takes!

The reason they sacked Mellis was because he wouldn't have made it and they let Billy Clifford off with a fine because he has a chance. It's ALL about the money folks!!!!!!!!!!!
 
You could be right tel, otherwise Cole would've been long gone.
 
To be fair Bertrand and McEachran have been exceptions . Since 2004 they are the only products of youth academy I can think of, that have appeared in the first team! Even they are very much on the fringe! We have some really good stuff on show in the juniors, as our youth cup run shows, but will they "graduate"?

There's a secret plan afoot bluemoon2 !! In 2016, when all the FIFA money restrictions kick in, hey Presto, CFC produce a team from the junior ranks, all with experience of being on loan for 5 years, and win everything. And no one on more than 300 quid a week !!!!! Got to hand it to Bruce Buck and his mate Gourley, they are really clever with the youngsters.

Van AnnHolt has featured but I rate Bertrand above him and it won't be long before Nathaniel Chalobah is a regular in the squad. Also, Sam Hutchinson was in the squad before he retired. great to see him back playing again & hopefully, his knee holds up. Decent player is Sam.
