Could potentially be two good derbies! Liverpool vs Everton Chelsea vs Spurs Very exciting prospect. Of course it requires Everton overcoming Sunderland at the SoL, which with MoN is not going to be easy, and Spurs beating Bolton.
Perfect for the TV companies if it does work out like that. Perhaps the fans of the clubs involved would've preferred one of them to be the final, but I won't complain.
Wrong time to play Chelsea. They are back in good form while we are in freefall. Makes next Saturday's game at the Bridge even more important now. I don't like being so negative but since Stevenage away we have been pony.
Happy with that draw Anyone know what's going on with the Bolton game, are we playing at the Lane again? What happens if we draw, do we have another replay?
The games are scheduled for the weekend April 14/15. I am reliably informed that Liverpool either have done, or will be, making a request to the FA, that their semi-final can take place on the 14th, to avoid clashing with the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster on the 15th. I guess the chances of the FA agreeing to this are reasonable, so if we get through this difficult second game with Bolton, expect our game to be the Sunday one.
No idea, and I don't think it is appropriate at this moment in time, to be discussing when Bolton might be ready to play the rearranged game.
I just don't feel like the FA cup "matters" anymore. Anyone agree? The atmosphere is never there like it is the the premier league. Big clubs tend to put out weakened teams on occasion too. With top 4 now meaning so much the FA cup has sunk to the level of the carling cup. I am glad we didnt try in it this year Attendances in fa cup matches tend to be lower too. People just dont care anymore. All this bs about the history of the cup and how much it matters is just said by the media to try and retain a fragment of interest in this increasingly insignificant competition.
I'm delighted we avoided the 2 London clubs. We have a very tough replay, if we get past that we have a tough but winnable semi-final (4 points off them in the league), looking at it from the bigger picture, we get one of the 2 London clubs to a final, we are guaranteed Europe. Europe is the only way we can get the profile of the club up. Winner of us v Everton will be seen as the weakest link, that may well be a good thing.
No, I don't agree, and also I find your post somewhat condescending. I am sure, if the truth be known, you lot would love to be still involved in the competition. And as for your "glad we didn't try in it this year" comment, I am undecided if that was said tongue in cheek, or you are just thick.
Unfortunately I think we are going to continue to be crap until Lennon returns and that will probably be too late.
Of course it was slightly tounge in cheek. But I have seen many spurs fans also say they would rather top 4 than win the cup. I think this says alot. Of course I would rather win the cup than not. But I would certainly rather come top 4. And it isnt even close.
Pleased to hear it was tongue in cheek. Please forgive me for doubting you, but it isn't often I come across Arsenal guys atempting to talk some sense <smiley> As for top 4 or win the FA Cup, well I have confidence we are capable of achieveing both.
Top 4 means a Champions League place. Perhaps it should be changed to the top 3 plus FA cup winners, that would certainly put some spice back into the cup.
Indeed it would but then we would put our uefa coefficient in trouble. Because it could mean a lesser side getting into the cl. Personally I think top 2 plus CC and FA cup winners is a great idea. Although if a team who comes top 2 wins the cups then it should go to 3rd and 4th in the league and NOT the losers of the finals. What about that idea? Would be fun and would mean that the lame dominance of the top 6 clubs could be countered by a club getting cl qualification from a strong cup run. Would also mean clubs like man u, us and spurs would have to be more careful with their budget because cl would be more a risk to attain
