as you say we must clearly be a 1 man team, but that 1 man is still good enough to put us above reading so what does that say for youre team ?? think before you put youre size 9s in it.

I had had a lil to drink when I wrote this so I take some if it back ... anyway you don't have to worry about us anymore cos we have 'used up all of our goals'

"It's disappointing that Reading and Southampton won again but that's not in our control is it? I was pleased Reading scored four in the one game actually. That was a waste and unnecessary. As it turned out one would have been enough so what's the point in netting another three? We talk a lot on the training field*about doing what's necessary. Reading could regret using up four goals in the one game if the next match ends up 0-0 or 1-1. Like we did after the Blackpool game. I warned the boys after that game that I didn't want us scoring unnecessary goals again. Every one should count. Goals are precious in football and shouldn't be chucked around like confetti at a wedding. If Reading are going to be that profligate, I can't see them staying the course."

    Guess who said that?

Utd have Rooney, Arsenal have Van Persie, Newcastle have Ba, Liverpool have Gerrard, Barca have Messi, we have Lambert oh and Sharp who cant get in our side yet and the the Royals have who ,could be the reason you may miss out i hope not but any one could have got him from Bristol Rovers but we did and its paying off.Every good side has a goalscorer or talisman and Ricky is ours go find your own . By the way i hope you go up with us at West Hams expense as your manager is a gent compared to old fathead

Unneccesary after the chap has apologised.

The reason Reading AND Saints are top 2 is to do with no single player. It is because they are both teams that use all 11 players (and squad) and because they ARE teams. If another team (naming no names) had Rickie they would be hammering the ball non stop in the air at him and he would not have scored as many as he has. And even if he had scored as many goals for them the team would not have scored as many.

Both of us should be enjoying the fact we have teams that work with and for each other :)

    No, he's right; we're rubbish.

I just think he was peed, because they probably spent twenty minutes singing "We're top of the league" until Rickie stepped up ...

You will note that i closed the post wishing them promotion with us and i really hope its us and them but he did have the audacity to label us a one man team its like suggesting England world cup winning team was one man because Hurst scored a hat trick when we had Moore Charlton Banks Ball Stiles etc etc it was a silly assumption.Of course we were a one man team at Leeds as well except it was Davis i fully understand its more than Ricky in football there are stoppers providers and finishers we have them all in this side along with good managment good support and great team spirit

Presumably the quote was made in jest! If there are only a certain number of goals in each team, we should be really worried after all we've scored:cheesy:

It's quite interesting reading threads like these.

So much positivity around saints and reading fans at the moment. Anyone would think the top 2 is done and dusted.

It isn't i'm afraid. There are still 30 odd points to play for and the title could still easily go any of 3 ways.

I am confident we are gonna step it up starting with a win on tuesday.

I do think saints and reading have a wobble in them yet, where as I think we may have just had ours.

West Ham never make things easy for ourselves. We will stumble and huff and puff but I am convinced it will all come together in the end as we celebrate automatic promotion and quite possibly the title.

Don't get too confident yet chaps.

Please stop being beastly about the County of my birth. I was deeply insulted when staying in Wales with my in-laws when John Redwood, the MP for Wokingham, was appointed as Welsh Secretary when my brother in-law piped up said" Where on earth is Wokingham?". It just happens that it is the town where both of my parents were born and concidered to be one of the best places in the country to live.

I don't think you could really berate Saints or Reading fans for being positive after both picking up big wins (numerically or dramatically) and seeing you drop points. I doubt anyone realisitcally thinks its now a two horse race after one set of favourable results. As you rightly say there are plenty of points to play for yet and lots more ups and downs for all of us I'm sure. But just for today we will be happy that we picked up another 3 points and that the team in 3rd (doesn't matter who it is) dropped some points. Then its on to the next game and we have to go through it all over again...who'd be a football fan ay!!

Even if we had lost yesterday Reading would not have gone top as we have a better goal difference !!! anyhow we didnt lose so they can pretend whatever they want. D Day for West Ham and Reading will be the day they play each other at the end of the month, if west ham win they are back in the mix, if they lose its playoffs and then its a lottery.
Our fate is now truely in our own hands we just have to keep pace with Reading and we are up.

Yes they would, they would have been a point ahead of us, if we had drawn they wouldn't have gone top.

Just proves how quick things can change. Two weeks ago we would have wanted West Ham to beat Reading, now it's starting to turn. I guess a draw is best for us currently.

You are wrong, if we had drawn we would still be top.. We are two points ahead.. So that extra point we gained by drawing would make us and reading on 70 points

He is our best player yes, some players rely a lot on one player and without Rickie we'd be outisde the top 6 imo. Without Adam we'd still be contenders for the autos. That being said it's tough luck
