I believe we would need to do the following to mount a proper challange. Get rid of Anyinsah Mcgleish will go anyway 2x strikers to replace Mcgleish and Anyinsah (Duffy back anyone?!) Get rid of Gill (I know I know you all love him, but I have yet to see anything in him worth a 3 yr deal and most likely on mega bucks in comparison to the rest) Try our best to keep hold of Muzzy, otherwise sell for a DECENT amount, not pennies like we did with our other players (500k will do ) CM to replace Gill and a Right Winger (and hopefully not, but a left winger if Muzzy goes will be needed too) Sign up the aussie Get all the other loan players back get rid of BA our lord Get rid of the other keeper (forgot his name!) Sign up Brown for 1 year only to prove himself at this level Anything else you would like to add?
Key for me is to replace McGleish with a 20 goal a year striker. Keep the current squad as they are starting to get use to each other.
these are out of contract: scott mcgleish, byron anthony, michael boateng, wayne brown, ollie clarke, charlie clough, lance cronin, darren jefferies, kayne mclaggon, lamar powell, charlie reece, eliot richards, gary sawyer, danny woodards and james paterson. i say only keep on brown, mclaggon, powell, richards, woodards and paterson. from the current loans i would have back: sign aaron downes and michael poke. would love matthew lund back but i doubt he will as he would be fighting to get in stokes team. would also like cian bolger and tom parkes but they may want to player higher league like league 1 to improve themself further. this would be my squad for next season: keepers: poke bevan right backs: woodards smith left backs: paterson l. brown centre backs: virgo downes NEW SIGNING woodards can be used as well. right mid: zebroski richards left mid: carayol hunter (if he is as good as they say) centre mid: gill w. brown (last chance) stanley NEW SIGNING (attacking and creative) strikers: harrold NEW SIGNING (very fast) mclaggon (looks good in my eyes, can be back up to the fast new signing) zebroski (when needed and back up for harrold) then use loan market if and when needed. powell and goddard out on loan to bath or forest green!
just think his free kicks and pens are a good assit to have. he has good experience and has worked under mcghee before with brighton i think.
Adebayo Akinfenwa and Izale Mcleod as our strikers please If we can get our loans from this season back again (excluding Dorman) then I don't think we'll be far away from being a real force next season As for the out of contractors I would have Wayne Brown, Richards, Sawyer and Woodards all back with us giving a contract to Downes and Patterson Looking forward to another season long loan in league two..
Good list cjs...not sure about Virgo though. Even before he was injured he had a turning circle larger than an Italian cruise ship. Would love to see Akinfenwa here.
if mcghee makes lots of changes, im excited about what signings he will make as he has a big contact list and for a year out the game he watched tons of games from prem level down to non league and reserve and youth football doing his own scouting work so when he gets a job, he knows what talent to get and where they are with the budget he has available
Are we allowed to start bragging that we will be the B.rc.l.na of the fourth tier, or should we leave that one to Wiz?
the board told us start of the season promotion was our aim. buckle quickly told us to lower our expectations. after a few games under mcghee using buckles players, we draw 2-2 away to inform torquay and in my eyes got a good point yet in the post match interview mcghee said we shouldnt be happy getting a point against teams like torquay. he is raising our expectations. we just maybe the barca next season
and you may want to come sniffing around the greenhous when we offload 1 or 2 players who will continue to do well in league 2 or the conference depending where barca rovers are.
its ok jenny, i know you deep down you know your club hasnt got what it takes and will bottle it as always
I would keep most of the squad because they've now had time to settle in and are doing pretty well. Of the ones out of contract I would tie up Woodward, Richard, Wayne Brown, Gary Sawyer, James Paterson and McClaggon. I like Anyinsah - he holds the ball up well, brings other people in and does things that are a little bit different. Gill's great when he plays, but he's had so much time out. I don't think Stanley is quite good enough. It's going to be important to try to keep the Leicester centre backs, although they may go back. Hopefully McGhee will keep the right loanees. We should be able to hang onto Carayol for a wile yet. The most important guy at the club has been Mark McGhee - he's been brilliant, and I have every confidence that we will go up next season.
