Just had a browse through some old posts on 12 yards, and who ever did post on there... who could forget our old mate carrabuh!

Was having a look at some of his posts on our signings and o my, he must feel like a prune <laugh>

"Any other team looking at that squad will think relegation and at the moment I'm inclined to agree with them. I think alot of people on here are kidding themselves when they look at the standard of player we are bringing in."

"I just don't get it, there are very valid reasons to have concerns over the level of players we have signed. It is impossible to argue against that point because they have rarely (if ever) played at a decent level.Fine, buy these players, but as far as I am concerned we need some real quality in the team be it from abroad, Championship or Premiership to top the TEAM up."

"Man City have Champions League Football, attract the best players in the World, are challenging for titles and cups.And you'd prefer to be scraping around League One picking up bargains etc because you like Delia Smith.Do you think Lambert has the same ambitions? I know which scenario he would prefer, and I know which club he'd pick if it became available and I'm sure as eggs Man city fans wouldn't swap positions. McNally would have her out the door as soon as possible if a Sheik came along."

"Oh please, if we were in the position of Man City, wealthy owner, multi million pound signings, playing Barcelona, Milan and the cream of Europe, and you think you'd pick going back to the Championship and bits and bobs of Premier League football for the sake of having Delia Smith in charge.Your kidding yourselves, none of you would."

"QPR, they now have a vastly superior team to ourselves in terms of players.I think Taraabt will really come good now he has some decent players around him.I fear we will now have to finish above another team other than the ones who came up because Warnock has made some very good signings of a good calibre. I hope our transfer policy doesn't bite us on the arse in the future of which I have always expected."

"Well, I know which players I'd rather we bought, with those that Warnock purchased Lambert would have kept us up no problem at all.Also I would 100% of gone for Barton if available on a free and I would have scouted abroad because the players are much better.

"I must admit, some of the names we are getting linked with and signed so far are causing me a great deal of concern following from this Pilkington story.Something I will always emphasise is a need for quality and I just don't see it in alot of the signings we have made and look to be making."

Sorry lads but I don't think it is fair to criticise another Canary fan just because he had differing views. We have now lost a contributor who had an alternative viewpoint (which I has sympathy with at times, but often not) All you have to do is disagree. Nothing wrong with having an alternative view but sometimes some prefer to drive people away just because they see things differently.

Yes, I do remember carrabuh and whilst I disagreed with him, I quite enjoyed his input on the '12 yards' boards. Pilkington, now there's a name - and some of the goals he's scored - if carrabuh had his way, we'd never have signed him and as for QPR, well, there's nothing more to say. As I said in a post earlier in the week - if the salaries of Barton and co are correct, then I'm glad PL didn't even try to sign them!!!!

Surgery - surely you remember some of the dross he came out with? He even wanted jimmy Bullard <doh>

Nothing he said could be taken seriously, it was quite good entertainment though with what he had to say but some of the comments like "we got mugged off with the signing of morison" etc was just so plain stupid to say.

I have no problems at all with different opinions, but then there was his!
 
His comments about QPR are hilarious at best. Although when they were made, none of us knew how the season would pan out.

I wouldn't want Barton at my club if he was paying us for the privilege of being here, way too disruptive and makes front page news, rather than back page.

I do agree - to an extent with Surgeryman, that everyone is equally entitled to their own point of view, but to be fair, carrabuh was really only a cyberspace version of Joey Barton, Jimmy Bullard, etc. I'd say this is a better place without his rantings <ok>
 
I seem to remember surgeryman constantly defending carrabuh on 12yds in some sort of self-conceived maternal role.

The fact is, some people like to be controversial merely to wind others up, which I feel was carrabuh's agenda. People disagree on here all the time, it's healthy and long may it continue.

In his case, however, he merely repeated the same mantra about how lacking in quality the team were, and how naive the management was. Coming at a time when things were better than they had been for years, this clearly upset a few people, and if he couldn't handle the subsequent inevitable flak, then he had nobody to blame but himself.

Well, you know what, I STILL don't think we have quality players. We have hard working, determined, hungry players. We are short on quality, and if Lambert was in charge of QPR and we had Warnock in charge then WE would b e the ones at the bottom not them. It is a constant stream of thought with English fans, they confuse work rate, passion and endeavour with quality, they are physical and emotional attributes, not skills. Pilkington is not a skilfull player, nor is bennett or the others he signed early season. They are OK players, nothing special, not stand out exciting to watch. When have we truly out passed a side for a game, not very often. Don't kid yourself these players are great, they are not, they are the everyday English archetypal players, good at running, strong, can't pass for toffee mind, unless theres gallons of space to play into.

I still stand by those comments, I also commented that the Premiership was getting worse and worse over the last 3 years. The standard is as poor now as it has ever been over the last 15 years. This is a big reason for our success. There is simply no money for established teams to spend, the pots are empty, the loans are maxed out. We have an amazing chance to be here for another 10 years.
 
No, that was when Mathew, Mark Luke and John chipped in for a Stoke Season ticket for him.

TBH carrabuh, I find that I agree with some of your comment, though I think that both Bennett and Pikinigton will develop into skilful players. On our day, when we pass the ball well from defence to attack, we're a match for a lot of teams and just come unstuck against some of the better defences. The only team against which we've failed to score is Arsenal and I'm hoping we'll put that right a week on Saturday. I would also say that the standard of the Premiership is going downhill and the majority of teams may be forced to develop their own 'stars of the future' in the same way that Saints did with - Oxlade-Chamberlain, Bale and Walcott; but Wilshire is a product of Arsenal's own academy. I remember seeing him a few years ago when NCFC reserves played Arsenal reserves and he was easly the star player on the pitch.

I am not going to disagree with much of that to be honest but I would perhaps argue that even if PL was at QPR he might not have been able to get the best out of them but in truth it is impossible to say.
Dyer would still have got injured 6 minutes in to his debut, Barton would probably still be a disruptive influence, Jay Bothroyd is never a PL player let alone an England International, Macheda from Man Utd was simply hopeless, SWP would still run in to trouble or not deliver a great ball in to the box.

As for Norwich, we are not a highly skillful team but we are a team of either talented or potentially highly talented players, which has proved to be key for the last three seasons. Hoolihan is probably our most skillful player but even then I sometimes question his appearance on the pitch. We might not be the best but let's enjoy what we have got, it could be so much worse <ok>
 
If Lambert was in charge of QPR he wouldn't have signed the tosh Colin did.
How anyone can try to argue a case against eight-goal Pilks or Elliott Bennett is beyond me. I thought I'd read a load of **** from Carrabuh in the past but this latest stream of bilge is something else <doh>
 
i suspect carrabuh is excellent on football manager and signs the big name players because they will inevitably be good on a game. it probably works for him. however, real life is different - i said at the time i don't believe he'd ever watched any of our signings to know how good they actually were and simply cos they played for unfashionable clubs or hadn't played in the top flight before meant nothing - these were good, talented, young, british players who could develop into big stars for us, be sold on for profit if we wanted and generally take the club forward without jeopardising the clubs future by splashing huge wonga on wages and egos. there's more to being a good footballer than having a big reputation - thank god lambert is our manager and not some of our fans, else we'd be back in the championship and in major financial trouble again.

i'm sure he wasn't alone munky! some people hear the name and think they'd be a good signing. barton, to be fair to him, had an excellent season last season so i could understand why people wanted him, especially on a free, but you only needed to look at what our success, our considerable success was based on and that was team harmony and unity, hard work combined with no little flair. the place would have collapsed had we signed someone like barton or bothroyd or anyone whose ego is bigger than the moon
