Further to a recent post about the upcoming derby match and our chances of being the team that relegated Pompey, it got me thinking about something else. What if a victory over our rivals relegated them and guaranteed us promotion? Obviously this would be a ridiculously sweet experience for most Saints fans but what of the implications for policing? You would need half of the Hants Constabulary in the ground to prevent a pitch invasion and even then...

So, is it possible? If West Ham and Reading draw against each other on 31st March but lose all their other fixtures prior to Pompey's vist, and if we were to win all of our fixtures up to and including El Classicoast, then yes it is.

Carlsberg don't do matchdays, but if they did....... :emoticon-0103-cool:

It's very unlikely at this stage that the scenario stated above would happen but we can hope. They claim they relegated us in 2005 so we'll do the same here IGNORING ALL THE FACTS (MAN UNITED SENT US DOWN) and draw our own conclusion that a win will send them down, mathematics aside.

Don't want to rain on your parade HB, but can we lose that nomenclature for the Saints V Pompey derby..? I seriously don't want it to catch on. I first heard it in reference to a comparison with a Real Madrid/Barcelona derby and it was being mentioned by that BBC F1 twerp, Humphreys. I neither want to see it, read it, or hear about it, in that way again. It's the Saints v Pompey derby, or Pompey v Saints; that's the way it should be referred to, and long may it continue [obviously in Cup competitions in the next few years if trends go as they should]. I don't want our fixture to be some sort of secondhand Spanish match that I have zero interest in.

Personally I like the "el classicoast" label, but that's my opinion. I hope the skate fans accept whatever the outcome is, if they are relegated after our match it's still an outcome they could have avoided by not overspending. If they do riot I hope all saints fans leave them to it we font need an FA charge facing us with the last few games to go!

I shall go directly to bed without any supper and consider my bottom to be well and truly smacked Mr Stain.

Say this was to happen, I seriously hope this wouldn't turn into a riot!

I hope our fans won't provoke anything because I would feel very embarrassed!

West Ham and Reading lose their next 4...long shot. I guess the fixture computers are clever enough to avoid placing the derby games too close to the end of the season.
