I know notrhing about horses, but I will picking those with a name or jockey with a name that is lightly linked to Saints or any red and white striped outfits.
I tried this out yesterday by looking in the paper at the pretty outfits and saw a white one with a red sash .... I then looked and saw it was 200-1 so presumably only had one leg. With this technique, I'll either come home having spent a few quid, or come home very happy, drunk and the luckiest man ever!

Even that beats the close my eyes and the use of a pin method I use....
..... The number of sores I get from the pin holes in my hand...I'm so bloody heavy handed.......
