I think it was clear to see last night that andy is actually improving, i was unsure why he was dropped in the first place. after last night i think it is safe to say andy, stevie and luis must start every game possible in the same team. PS Hendo will turn in to a top CM with time.
Definately - they all added something in their own way. Carroll winning the headers, flicks on. Suarez with his ability to dribble into the box and beat a couple of defenders Gerrard to provide support and finish the attack!
Carroll, apart from Skrtel has been our best player since Xmas IMO ( which isnt saying much ), but again he had an excellent game last night
Suarez was not selfish yesterday, the last goal he saw that Gerard was in a better position to scoare and he gave the ball to him.
Was very impressed with carroll, he's come along way from the bambi he was earlier this season. He's playing as a true CF should, all we need now are a few goals from him but I think in time they will come
Try could form a great trio. We just have to make sure it creates goals consistently. Or we could turn it to a quad with the right signing.
Was fantastic last night I thought, his control (most of the time) was spot on and showed great vision at times as well. He'll get amongst the goals if Gerrard, Suarez and Carroll are played consistently.
Carroll showed his quality yesterday- reminded me of Llorente. Just needs to add a few goals now(but i could say that about everyone in the team)
Clearly you didn't watch United-Bilbao last week if he reminded you of Llorente! Carroll could be good, but he's nowhere close to that level. Carroll is like a battering ram, Llorente is a big elegant key.
The three of them linked up very well together and I can't help but think that it could be down to the absence of Adam. We had much more pace in midfield and the movement was better, meaning that we didn't always have to just hoof useless balls up to Andy the whole time. I wouldn't be disappointed if we played a similar midfield to that one in most games.
I think it may be due to not playing Adam and Gerrard together. As we saw against Arsenal without Gerrard, we played better and moved the ball around quickly.
guys andy as decent BUT... when he starts putting a few sprints on and getting in position to nod one in after winning or holding it up for us to start a play ot two then i might eb enthused. as a CF he is winning a few balls nd yes playing a few passes no and yes he adds at the back form set pieced but hang on... he needs to be able to get form the half way line into the box to be on the end of stuff if he's there to win the ball etc.... he needs to show me he can psrint 30 yards without falling over and not playing for the next 5 mins at all. improved yes, but lts and lots of scope to go a lot better. mean time kelly put in a fabulous performance as an RB that puts carrolls running ability to shame.
He has that desire back by the looks of it. The shot he missed second half, if you watch the replays he is knocked down by the defender and then scrambles to get back up and into a good position. I predict that Carroll will hit his stride for next season. People do forget how long it can take to move to a new area, get to know people and feel at home. He is starting to show glimpses. Another summer and pre season and I think we'll see the dangerous, potentially unplayable Andy Carroll come August.
Dont think he will ever be say Torres,Fowler class, but he can certainly do a good job for us a la Crouch,Toshack
Carroll's main problem is simple. He will never score enough goals and neither he nor Suarez are poachers. Suarez IS an excellent support striker and a great player in the making, Carroll could be a real force (showed against City last year what he's capable of when it all comes together) but overall if there was a last minute scramble I could name half the league I'd rather in there to put the ball in the net and that's kind of the problem. I hope to see continued improvement from Carroll and who knows maybe he can prove me wrong but it would be great to see him actually flying in at crosses and looking to get in the box and run across players every now and then, you know like a striker would do!
I think Carroll could be a top goal scorer, with the right delivery and right support. He is not a player who is going to score incredible solo goals, but look at his goals against us for Newcastle last season, his first LFC goal against City and his goals against Exceter, Brighton, Everton away and his first England goal. He has great reflexes and a great left foot, he just needs a little more confidence. The team would not need to completely transform to suit his style either. He can get good assists to when players get running along side and ahead of him.
