As a stop gap measure it worked and yes i was supportive of it. all the threatening to close threads is doing is creating a further divide between ipswich and norwich fans. I wonder how much whining will go on if Myself and Hampy took the zero policy on the Ipswich board. We are lucky that we both have quite a few members each (some clubs have none) do you really want to stop this interaction between us?

TBH, I would probably close my account because the interaction between us is the good part of not606. You kill that Dave and you will kill both boards.

I don't know why SN23 was banned but because we agreed that the cooling off was needed, i presume it was for that. so i take it that you didn't agree with this? and you accuse other people of moving goalposts?
 
i think dave may have answered your question guru about 'toys and prams'.

you are all in a grump because norwich are safely placed in the top flight and you lot are suffering another dreary mid table season. we lose a couple of games so you get all excited, come on here giving it large, then realise that you've got all excited over nothing. we've then pointed out that your club is in dire straights and you've all kicked off about it. i'd say that if you're going to give banter we are more than happy to participate in that banter - not that i would call it banter - it was so desperate from yorkie in the first place i don't think it worthy of the word 'banter'. myself and others often take part on the ipswich board just as you boys and warky and welly do on ours. there is rarely any problems and i'm not too sure i see what the problem was here. if dave gets complaints about closing a thread then as moderator, he is within his right to close the thread as its on our board.

just to add, i don't think we really need a 'banter thread' - seems a bit silly to me that people can't just start new threads. i just think in the case of this one, it was so lame that it ended up this way. when i first read the OP i laughed so hard a little bit of wee came out, so rubbish the attempt at wumming was. 99 times out of 100 there's interesting stuff on every thread and this was one of them, even if it was about them being in a mess rather than us

SN23 was banned for posting racist comments on our board. He was warned several times but carried on and was given a temp ban. He then went on a tirade of private messages to me calling me all sorts of unprintable things.

The problem is Supers is yes we take an interest in you, of course we do it's only natural! You seem to forget that i posted a thread to say well done a few weeks back, so why would i be in a grump?

This thread was a light hearted jibe, because of the success you have had we need to clutch at straws, i sure you boys would have done the same.

exactly, so why be so precious about your board that threats have to be made to close threads? even the BBC wasn't this bad!

Yes it's absolutely true and I have no idea why. The only thing we have not tolerated is racism, homophobia and suchlike and we also took down some images of a disabled kid which someone objected to. That was in the early days though, on the whole people know where the line is and it never gets crossed.

guru, we have had much mud-slinging between us but i do note when you make comments like this too. i'd like to think you appreciate some of the things i post on your board.
 
Yes i do, Life is about give and take! you have your assholes in life to appriciate the good people! you have to have **** days at work to have good ones!

i think if dave or maestro gets complaints about a thread they have to be responsible and indicate (which is all dave did) that there has been a complaint and the thread might be closed unless it gets tidied up a bit. nothing wrong with that. i felt the thread should close 20 posts ago simply cos i felt it had probably run its course and was going round in circles. as it happens it has moved forward nicely. probably why i'd be a crap moderator and dave isn't as i'd have closed it! i think to compare it to the bbc is like comparing paul lambert to glenn roeder

What i can't understand, if somebody gets offended by it. Don't go on the bloody thread, you have to make a conscious decision to open it up. My view is that unless there is something racist, homophobic etc it stays on, i know perhaps i have made ill tasted jokes in the past and i have removed.

This thread has been nothing more than banter, and a quiet word to who complained saying "look there is nothing to bring the board into disrepute on here, if you feel so strongly please don't go on it" done and dusted, no need for a hissy fit!

and therein lies the source of the problems this country finds itself in the "that'll do" attitude. Is it really so hard to get the simple things learnt at Primary school right?

thats this country though isn't it! you only need one iffy remark from somebody on a tv show were only one viewer complains, to suddenly get 30,000 busy-bodies' complaints.

this country sucks.
