Apparently we have set a gentleman's agreement that Saha won't play on Saturday, anybody know about this?

Hope he does play as we probably know him inside out and I fancy us to deal with him.

P.S The last time we had a gentleman's agreement Gosling went to Newcastle :emoticon-0103-cool:

I dont think he will play regardless, i think he will revert to 4-5-1 with VDV playing in behind Ade, if he wants to go two up top, I would imagine Defoe probably deserves a crack this weekend.

However, I think he has a knock anyway.

They're actually against the rules now, but I think Saha's out anyway, as he would've played against Stevenage.

Pienaar's not allowed to play because of a rule change, too.
It's not something that we've got any control over.

Well you came up trumps the last time I queried you on the rules PNP, so I am cautious about challenging you again. But, I am certain there are no PL rules concerning Gentlemen's Agreements.

It came up before with Everton when they signed Tim Howard from Man Utd and agreed not to play him, with some people claiming that it amounted to third party interference with a player's contract, SC.
Had it been written into the contract itself, then the transfer wouldn't have been sanctioned by the league.
There were questions asked about whether it mattered anyway, as a verbal contract is still legally binding, but the matter was never pursued, due to it involving Man Utd, er... I mean, for some reason. <whistle>

I think that there was something said afterwards about these things being either outlawed or clamped down on, but I can't find any reference to it online, bar the odd unreliable bit of hearsay.

Thanks for the clarification PNP. I do remember the Tim Howard situation and the fuss it caused. I just have it in my head that they never actually got round to sorting it all out other than to stop loaned players playing against their parent club (as applies to Pienaar tomorrow).

A Gentlemens Agreement is certainly still permitted in the FL, indeed I believe Luke Gutteridge is not playing for Northampton against Aldershot this weekend for this very reason.

I think it all kicked off because of the situation at West Ham and the row over 3rd party interference, SC.
Perhaps it all died down when the fuss over that did?

From the OS

Louis Saha is fit to face his former club Everton as we travel to Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

The French international striker missed Wednesday night's FA Cup replay win against Stevenage after having fluid drained from his knee after Sunday's defeat against United.
Louis trained on Friday and is back in the frame to face the team he left for the Lane on January transfer window deadline day.

Harry Redknapp said William Gallas will also be available but Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon miss out.

However, I get the feeling we'll start with Ade and VDV up front, with Defoe coming on.

I honestly think if Harry and Moyes have an agreement no way will he play, both are old school managers with respect for each other and Defoe's 3 goals offer the perfect reason to play him instead

Harry is saying that Saha is traveling with the squad and that Saha wants to play. There is absolutely no indication from Harry about any "gentleman's agreement."

Such an agreement is not recognised by the FA, and is not worth the paper that it's not written on!

Why would/should we agree to anything that will weaken us and strengthen them?

Even if there is such an agreement, so what? I want us to win this game, not earn brownie-points for being mugs.
