I am not a fan of Malbranque admittidly so obviously i am going to say why we shouldnt have brought him on and instead brought on elmohamody.

Everything with Malbranque is slow and he was up against Carragher, if we had a faster winger on we could have easily caused more problems, moved sessegnon to the left to put him up against carragher and Elmohamody could have caused Johnson afew problems.

We pesist on malbranque, he is a scrapper yes, but hes not a wide midfielder and we shot ourselves in the foot by putting a slow player up against a slow full back. We looked like we could cause problems when Richardson was on and when Elmohamody was on the wing but theres nothing with Malbranque.

Everyone seems to love him but he doesnt score goals, he doesnt really create goals and its painful to watch bardsley and malbranque always coming inside, Elmohamody would have been the best bet if we wanted to win the game.

Roll on the summer, i cant wait to see Nzogbia light up the stadium and rip the defence to shreads and crossing it in to our new target striker who is playing along side Gyan

Its just a matter of seeing out the season now and finishing as high as we can for the money.

I hope that Malbranque is one of the players we dispose of in the summer. To me,he has no pace. His legs have gone and he offers nothing to the team any more.We didn't lose today because of Malbranque, but he didn't help the cause!!!

Sorry lads but utter tosh. Malbranque is the one man with the tricks who can open up a defence. Until he got injured Richardson was poor, the whole team played at a pace that was like watching the Italian or Spanish league. No drive no passion and the crowd a full house at that hardly ever got going to inspire things either

calm and charlie i agree with both but at the moment steed is a big part in safc and in the future he is the type of player we need to replace that is the standard he has brought us to <bubbly>

This is my opinion too, although he did not deliver an end product today (again).

Carragher had a stormer. The LFC back four were rock solid. If Suarez had been playing for us he would not have scored today.

For whatever reason, after the penalty-goal,we were well second best and didn't create anything much. Why?Where's the fighting spirit? We must get out of this bad run,but a trip to Manchester doesn't fill me with confidence at the moment.Should we still be looking upwards in the table???We are only a handfull of points away from the drop-zone after spending millions.

i totally agree with the op, i thought that elmohamady should have come on earlier, or at least zenden. malbranque was bullied off the ball today, he lost it too many times, and he wasn't sharp enough to chase and harry the liverpool players. don't offer him a new contract brucie, he's been a great servant for sunderland, but he's past it physically, and he's not going to get any better, only worse.

i just feel that although malbranque gives you scrap, when you want to get at the defence and exploit the pace of carragher, you would want elmohamody on the pitch instead of playing into the defenders hands with malbranque as he is slower and alsway comes inside, he and bardsley down the left just dont work

steed is one of the best players at safc, cant blame him for that rubbish we were served up,
the team were poor and our supposed world class strikers couldn't muster a shot between them
